Welcome to three years ago. It was in the 09 F-150 since January 13, 2008. The 09 came out in 08.

In 2007 IIRR, the EPA decided that any place that is a connection in the fuel system allows vapors to release...so, the basically regulated the old gas cap out of existance beginning in 2008.

Why is the screw style better than capless?

The capless saves time, reduces fume and vapor escape into the environment, maintains a completely sealed system until you gas up, the seal is designed to prevent contamination, and no more check engine lights if you don't put the cap on properly.

Guys up North will be happy not to have to contend with frozen gas caps in the winter.

I haven't had any problems with it.

They make a locking cover for the neck. I bought mine on Ebay for $10 or so.

If they are going to take your gas they will just punch a hole in you tank and get it that way. That is how it is being done in my neck of the woods.
