Any 2011 FX2's out there?

Has anybody purchased a 2011 FX2? I've seen one listed on a dealership page and I've seen another in person at another dealership. I haven't heard of anybody actually receiving one or buying one. It makes me wonder if anybody has bought one this year. The one's I am specifically interested in are the 3.5l FX2's. Has anybody bought one or does anybody know of someone who has purchased one yet?

I could have been one that had but my dealer made me such a great offer on the FX2 I was looking at I decided to see what kind of deal they would do on a Lariat Crew Cab and it was as good that I went ahead with the Lariat instead.

I was going for the Luxury package on the FX2 and I got everything the FX2 had with that package except for remote start, reverse sensing system, and rearview camera and the 6 and a half foot bed (my crew cab only had the five and a half foot bed)

But going with the Lariat I got not only the heated seats but the cooling option as well along with the leather seats front and rear, the crew cab (instead of the Super Cab), the ladder step, moon roof, 4 X 2 dash display the so so wood grain (may have to learn to live with that) all for about $1,500 more for one they had on the lot instead of shipping one in from a hundred or so miles away.

Originally also I was pretty set for a Candy Apple Red or Blue but when I saw the figures I got one that was a good looking silver. I did have to add running boards but all in all I am very happy with my truck.

One problem you may have as far as getting input on the FX2 is that there are so few of them around. I did a pretty exhaustive search over to Jacksonville, FL, down to Orlando, up to Clarksville, TN and out west to New Orleans, LA and I found two FX2 Super cabs in Mobile, AL, two FX2's (with Luxury package and Sony/Nav system) in Gallatin, TN, two FX2's (one Luxury pkg, one not) in Panama City, FL, one in Jax, FL and I think one or two in New Orleans...one in Union City, GA, and maybe one or two others in all the southeast. Not very good odds of actually running into one if you go to a dealer near you.

One other thing your local dealer will usually be able to help you locate one in whatever color you want and package and build (super cab or crew cab) and they will get it to you but unless it is within a hundred miles you may end up paying for the privilege of having them send someone out to drive the "replacement" truck to the dealer that has the one you want and to drive it back.

Good luck in your search.

Dennis

I'm within the geographic area you described. The one at the dealership I am working with is a Crewcab FX2 with the luxury package. The other one is about the same it has a couple other options, both have 5.0l. I haven't found any with the 3.5l, which makes me think they haven't started shipping them yet. That also begs the question what is the hold up.

You must be looking at the same ones I was looking at that were located in Panama City, FL at Cook-Whitehead Ford. I was, at one time, going for the red one, the blue one did not have the luxury package but had the 20 inch wheels and was only around $4-500 cheaper than the luxury version.

I have not heard of any of the FX2's coming with the Eco-Boost engine (3.5L) yet. I have seen a couple on some XLT's but they are not out in great numbers yet. I do not know if they will even ship an FX2 with the Eco-Boost engine unless it is ordered from the factory that way, the brochure only lists them as coming with the 5.0.

The 5.0 is basically the new Mustang GT engine in a truck, it sounds great and has plenty of power.

Again, good luck,

Dennis

The eco's are in extremely short supply right now, and most that ship are snapped up immediately or close to it. If you want an eco, I would strongly recommend you wait until dealers build up some inventory of them or you are going to pay a big premium on it. Just my 2 cents.

I ordered mine with the eco already. It really wasn't that expensive considering. I used x-plan and with the incentives I should walk out with (assuming the same incentives) a savings of a little less than about 7k.

molinoman--I'm actually in Mississippi with the two trucks. One is a black supercrew with luxury package, 5.0 and a couple other options, and the other is a red supercrew with the 5.0, luxury package and a couple different options than the first one. I wasn't really interested in the other options so I didn't want to spend the extra 4-5k for things I didn't want. The dealerships wouldn't come down enough on those two trucks so I used my x-plan to order the eco. All trucks/cars are ordered either by the dealer or by a customer. Either way they are ordered.

That's good to hear that you got to order the truck you wanted. If I had more time I may have went that route myself but all things considering I did end up with a way better truck than I was originally planning on getting and other than learning to live with the blond wood paneling I made out very well and have no complaints...love that power and exhaust note.

Better late than never

I guess I will own the only one in NJ!!! I have not seen a single one anywhere. Everyone orders the FX4 becuase we get snow about 5 times a year!! Anyway, mine was ordered about 2 weeks ago. It was the last F150 2011 allocated to this dealer. Ford is re-tooling for the 2012 models and they would have stopped taking orders the last week of June 2011. Then the only ones I located were in the Southeast US, and I do not have the time to go and get it, nor do I want to pay somebody to drive it for me.

I am very much looking forward to getting my FX2 with the Ecoboost engine. It will have the FX2 Luxury package, 20" wheels, could not get the upgraded stereo becasue they simply ran out of them, then I thought that so many great systems available out there, I do not think I will be missing much.

I saw a comment from someone that indicated they were going to remove the Ecoboost logo as well as the radio antena. Could not agree more, but how would I cover the antena opening?
