18" Chrome Wheels

I have a 2010 XLT with the 18" chrome rims(chrome package). I thought they were all 1 piece rims, but they look like they are just covers. Is this what they are, or am I missing something?

ALUMINUM CHROME CLADDING

Clad wheels are produced by permanently attaching a stainless steel or plastic cladding to an aluminum wheel. Claddings are frequently chrome plated, but can also be painted. New material advances now allow premium surface finishes such as Chrome Shadow and Blade Silver. In any application, permanently attached claddings give the appearance of a premium wheel without the premium price.

It is chrome cladded plastic applied to the aluminum wheel.

Sure doesn't seem like plastic..... i would guess its steel or aluminum.... if you take the center hub cap off you can see the end tabs of the covering

First the wheel is made, then a plastic insert that has been 'plastic chromed' attaches to the aluminum wheel making it a 'chrome clad aluminum wheel'.

Here is a shot of the back of one of these wheels. You can see the back side of the plastic chromed insert (and the yellow adhesive) that is applied to the front of the wheel.
