Have any of you guy's using the Recon 3rd brake light find that it sticks out away from the cab waaaaay too much? I measured mine and it sticks out 3/8" away from the cab. This is due to the thick foam used to make a good water tight seal but to me it looks horrible and I wish I could get my money back.

Might add a light coat of Niteshades and a couple coats of clear over it all. Still want it as bright as possible, but the chrome toned down a little.

Have you tried tightening it down a little more? Don't torque it to where it'll crack the lens, but that gasket should have some give and tighten a little more flush than it is, mine fits more like the factory lamp.

I'm going to try to tighten it more when it warms up but I'm afraid to go too tight and chance cracking the plastic.

Just be super careful doing this crank slowly, watch and listen carefully.

I really thought about trimming the gasket buuuuuut.....I'm afraid I could not get it cut down perfectly even so that it would not leak and if I ever had an issue with it and need to return it I would be SOL.

Yeah thats probably not the best idea... the bigger gasket is actually pretty good because there was a recall on some of these trucks where there was a leak in the factory break light causing damage to the headliner...

I heard about that as well. I had it out in the sun all day and was able to tighten it a little bit more but it still bugs me. Oh well, guess I'll just be happy it shouldn't leak and quit my bitching.

Hey look at the bright side at least you went legit with the LED 3rd as opposed to night shading the OEM equipment! Have you looked into LED tails to match?

Yes I did and I like the look of them but can't bring myself to spend the money on them. Now if they hadn't changed the god awful chrome trimmed tail and headlights to the black ones I have I would have definitely changed them to either aftermarket or Harley/Raptor, but thats just a matter of taste. To the other guy's credit I have seen some pretty good Nightshade jobs and for the money it makes it look a hell of a lot better. I wonder why lately Ford makes all of their third brake lights with the clear and chrome look.

Yeah for the money Night Shade really makes a difference but I've seen some to the point where you can't tell if they're on the brakes or not, which in the long run will end up costing a lot more when someone runs all up in your s***... I'd like to find a set of those harley/raptor heads though for sure, that chrome trim just does nothing for me and I only use the blackout headlight covers for pictures since they kill the light output and I spend so much on HID heads and fogs

I have an 11 with the black trimmed heads and tails and think it makes a world of difference. I have not really paid attention to the Harleys and Raptors but are they just like the 11 FX4's but smoked?
