Warranty

A couple of months ago, I purchased a used 2009 F150 with 20,000 miles. Is the factory warranty still in effect? Thanks, Dean

Get you VIN and ask a local dealer.

There might be a warranty transfer fee.

It had 3-Year/36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper coverage from the factory. That went into effect the day it was sold to the original owner. If that was some time in 2009, then it would be covered by Ford until that same month in 2012 (3-Years)...or 36,000 miles...whichever comes first.

The best thing to do is go to www.flmowner.com and setup your "My Ford" account with your VIN#. There is a Warranty tab where it will show you the warranty remaining (time/miles)....you can also buy Ford ESP's there when your factory warranty runs out. It is also a good place to log service and all kinds of handy little tools.

From what I know, a FORD ESP can be purchased in ONE of TWO ways.

1. BEFORE 12,000 miles on a new vehicle. You don't have to take it to a dealer and you don't have to buy it from the original dealer (I have the Premium ESP on my 2010).

2. AFTER 12,000 miles, you can still buy one, but the price goes up, and its possible you might have to take the vehicle to the dealer your are purchasing it from for detailed inspection (although you are under the 36,000/3yr bumper to bumper).

This is what the dealer I bought mine from told me.

The Ford Owner site shows it pretty simple...seriously, it's a pretty handy info tool that doesn't cost a dime. Just plug in your VIN and some contact information.

I'm not sure about your ESP information though, based on my experience at least.

I bought a Ford ESP on my 2006 FX4 when the OD clicked over 34,000....didn't have to take it in to the dealer for an inspection. It was purchased direct based on ads they sent me in the mail telling me that my factory warranty was about to expire and that I ought to consider an ESP. There was a monthly payment, interest free, based on the length and depth of coverage....or I could pay it lump sum. Easy, and 100% backed by Ford. That's the only way to go with Extended Warranties, IMO. It may have been cheaper had I purchased it in advance, when I bought the truck....and probably could have been financed into my deal. But, I wasn't sure how long I was going to keep the truck.

I'm curious about this, as I just bought a 03 aviator that was never titled, but Lincoln has a warranty start date back in 03/04.

http://www.zeiglerfordesp.com/ cheapest on FORD ESP

http://www.zeiglerfordesp.com/

is the CHEAPEST on the FORD ESP, period.

FordWarrantys.com is almost $265 more(even after their gimmicky "promo code". it was still $929...originally 1,117 before their gimmicky "promo code")

I bought the 72 mos / 75,000 mile one for $665 from Zeigler.

As long as the vehicle hasn't been in a major accent and has a clean title, the bumper to bumper and powertrain warranties along with road side assistance all transfer to the new owner at no charge. All warranties started the day the truck left the original dealers lot.

How the hell did you find a vehicle from 2003 that hasn't been titled yet?
