2011 Signal Lever

Probably the only change to the 2011 that I can't get used to.

Not a traditional click down for left, click up for right. More of a touch up and down.

Hard to get used to.

Yeah, I posted a comment about that from my EcoBoost test drive. It drove me nuts even though I was only in the truck for 20 minutes. Why did they have to reinvent something that was not broken?

I remember getting a Ford Contour rental car in the 90's and that turn signal lever drove me nuts because it was not at at true 9 o'clock position it was about 3" above that.

Hopefully after a little more time you will get used to it...

IF I recall correctly, the touch up or down flashes 3 times. You can push it further to get a continuous flash.

from the 2011 owner's manual:

TURN SIGNAL CONTROL
The turn signal lever does not mechanically lock in the upward or downward position when activated. The turn signal control activation and cancellation is electronic.
• To operate the left turn signal, push the lever down until it stops and release.
• To operate the right turn signal, push the lever up until it stops and release.
• To manually cancel turn signal operation, push the lever again in either direction.

Lane change
To indicate a left or right lane change:
• Push the lever up/down to the first stop position and release. The turn signals will flash three times and stop.
• Push the lever up/down to the first stop position and hold. The turn signals will flash for as long as the lever is held in this position.

I didn't like the turn signal at first but I am getting used to it. I didn't care for it on my EB Tour test drive tho'.

Nice photo album Steve; I love the tri-coat paint.

Sure am glad I bought a 2010 with its vastly inferior engine and transmission. This turn signal thing would drive me nuts!

With any luck, turn signal complaint threads might just replace the frequent "my 2009-2010 transmission sucks" threads.

Thanks for posting this. It looks like it saves one step for lane changes. And will help when you forget to turn the blinkers off as it will shut off automatically. To make a turn just press down until it stops and release. I don't see this as a problem either.

It seems like people who were test driving didn't know how it worked for the lane changes. Or people who have the old model hate change or are just looking for ways to bash the new model. No surprise.

This was irritating to me on the test drive as well. I did learn how to use it fairly quickly although I still didn't care for it. Sometimes you can have to much technology.

Digging out an old thread, but have now had my 14 F150 for two years and still can't stand this feature. Also have an 08 Fusion and I actually "enjoy" the turn signal lever in that is "normal"

I believe they switched back to the old style in the 2015 redesign.
