Stormsearch,
Easy tiger, that was a joke. Pretty sure no matter what the thickness of metal, I doubt you could see through it.

I compared a Ford,Chevy and a Toyota when deciding on this truck. Between work and personal vehicles, I have had 7 chevys and two Ferds in the last 11 years. The 2002 F-150 had a great body style and interior, but the drive train was the worst I have ever driven. It had a 4.6 with a 3.55 gear and was gutless to the point I just ran it in 3rd gear to keep in from downshifting constantly. I never had any issues with it other than brakes, and it was the most comfortable truck I have ever rode in.
The chevys I had were great, never had any issues with them and they drove great as well. I still have my 06 1 ton.

I chose this Ford because chevy didn't really change their 2010 from the 2007 that I already had. I want to see how the F-150s have evolved in 8 model years. The toyota was a big dissappointment. Good engine, but lackluster interior and a frame that flexed way to much.

I drive about 40K a year, so I have a lot time sitting in a truck. It is easy for me to compare trucks, because I drive the same roads that I have for 8 years. This truck, while it drives good, ( I love the drive train engine and 6speed), feels very thin to me. The body panels are very thin and seem fragile. Much more so than the chevy. I compared them both in my driveway when it was new.
Maybe they should go to plastic body panels. They would be more resistant to impacts, and should be pretty light.
All in all I am good with this truck. No truck is perfect. There are things I like better on the chevy and there are some things I like better on the ford.

You have a better perspective on comparitive vehicles than I do, so I believe ya. I really didn't pay attention to the sheet metal until this thread came up. Shows what triggers one guy vs. another. If people didn't complain about stuff likes this, they would just go somewhere else.
