Ford's own commercials say 16/22 for 4x2. This matches the stickers. 4x4 gets 15/21. If you are listening to a salesman tell you this, I'd get a new salesman. I'm sure you can get more than what the EPA certifies it as, but that holds true for all engines.

Update on what my father did.

He found a 2010 F150 Harley that he could not say no too. With a 5.4L. What a mistake

Not necessarily a mistake - but you better research the tow rating.

The EPA changed how it calculated the MPGs of new vehicles about 2 years ago. For a while, no one could seem to attain the epa mpg ratings but now they are much more conservative.

I actually get over the new EPA ratings but my driving style is good.

What are the odds that Ford will eventually put the 6.2 in the xlt and fx4?

'Slim to none' would be optimistic IMO.

If anything, I expect the 6.2 to completely go away in the F-150 pretty soon due to tightening CAFE requirements - unless they can find a way to get a F-150 a GVWR rating over 8500#. Even that may not work if the proposed "footprint" formula goes through for light and medium-duty trucks.

Sorry, guys - small direct injection engines with turbos are here to stay.
