USB 2 Question
USB 2 Question
So I've ordered my parts but am waiting for delivery. I decided to keep my iPod in my gym bag and use the HD through the factory USB port in the console (why they wouldn't place it in the center console when they have a holder for the iPod is beyond me.
That being said, I can use Sync to search by artist, genre, albumn etc but playlist is not available I'm assuming since it is a HD and not an iPod, but is there a way when I copy my music folder that I can take playlist information as well?

SYNC will also recognize m3u playlists, another feature of MediaMonkey.
Lots of good information over at the Ford SYNC Forum.

Running the second USB cable to the glovebox takes five minutes. Just get a USB A double-female gender changer, and a USB-A mini 5 pin cable. (3-6 feet).
SSD should theoretically cure the cold weather issue, 64GB drives are getting to be around $100. I bought a Kingston from Newegg.

I picked up a Kingston 32GB flash drive for about $50 from Amazon (same price at NewEgg too). Works fine, and I'll probably never fill it up.
I have a 160GB external hard drive (powered off USB), but IMO, it's not worth possibly damaging a hard drive: extreme temperature fluctuations, bumps in the road, rocky roads, etc... Better to go with something like a flash drive.

I just recently did this mod. I wanted an external HD (SSD) at around 80 or 100 gigs, but found a 500GB Western Digital at Walmart for only $50. Its solid state, USB powered, and its not much bigger than some cell phones. I've got about 10 gigs on it so far, but I doubt I'll ever fill it up anyway. It fits nicely in my glove box. I made my own micro to mini USB cable.
One thing I have read about playlists is that the playlist files need to be saved in the root folder of the drive. Media Monkey is also want I use to fix my MP3 files. I use it to correct the meta data or the MP3 tags. Then I use an MP3 renamer app so all my song file's names won't be track 01.mp3, etc...
