Maybe you guys can appreciate

Just purchased a 2011 5.0 Crew Cab 4X4 OFFROAD edition with the 3.73 gears.

I have been waiting for the boys at FMC to put out this statement type truck for years. I must say I am in no way dissapointed. Originally I wanted the EB but a good salesman sold me on the coyote. I am glad he did.

The ride is great and the 5.0 should get a little more press although the EB is impressive. I would like to see the 5.0 head to head with EB with the same gearing and on E85. I think the numbers would be very close.

Anyway not broken in with the cruise set around 80 on a long interstate trip I got 19.8 MPG.

Since being back at work a few of the guys were skeptical, dwelling on the boat anchors under the hood of past F150s. Lets just say I have humbled them in their respective Tundra 5.7, Ram 5.7 and 5.3 Bowtie.

The Tundra stayed within two truck lengths while the Ram and Chevy, well to be honest it wasn't even fair.

I have my eyes peeled for a Titan and 6.2 GM product to finish up my homework

They better catch me in the AM, the CAI and Corsa exhaust are being put on in the afternoon.

Depending on the amount of miles you drive the EB may be economically within reach even if upside down on financing.

You got me on the towing the 5.0 is rated @ 10,000, after having this beast for a week I think Ford held back the numbers to seperate and market the eco boost. You gotta think the ford V8 guys would not let the new 5.0 go out like that.

All BS aside if there is any small amount residual moisture on the road I cannot get into it over half throttle, completely dry it will aggressively churp second.

I will let you guys know how the cold air and free flowing exhaust makes her react very soon. The local Ford service manager also told me he would get me a little more aggressive tune so I will also be looking into that. After all that I am going dyno it I will post the chart when I can.

Would LOVE to see the Dyno Chart!!!! I have all but signed on the dotted line for a new 2011 F150. The Ram I drove certainly seemed more powerful than the 5.0 but maybe I was babying the Ford a little too much. An actual torque curve would answer the question once and for all. I intend to order an F-150 this weekend so it is a moot point I suppose.

Regardless of the raging debate right now with EB vs 5.0 vs 6.2, we win no matter which one we choose (well, the 6.2 is a guzzler, so less win with that one).

I'm probably buying an EB, but if I end up "settling" for the 5.0, I'm still getting one hell of an engine. Ford has dominated the truck market for years and this new engine lineup should only broaden the gap between Ford and 2nd/3rd place.

If GM and Dodge don't do something quick, they're going to be reeling in pain once everyone realizes what Ford finally has under the hoods of the already superior trucks.

Yeah I have now driven two 5.0's (Both FX4 Crews) and one EcoBoost from signing up for the EcoBoost test drive, it was an FX2. The EB definitely dominates the 5.0 in at least the 1st through 3rd gear experience. That torque is just undeniable. I think the 5.0 may have had a bit better feeling above 50-60MPH when you got on it, but I don't know which is actually faster from 50-80, they both pushed me back to the seat.

For only $750 more, and since I am getting a $500 coupon for the test drive, I may try the EB. More torque, better MPG's, even if just 1 or 2 based on EPA at least, and a drop in the bucket compared to the overall vehicle cost.

Can't really go wrong either way. Definitely a lot more fun to drive than any other truck I have been in. Some of the mods you may be able to get since the 5.0 is also in the Mustang could be nice as well (modified 5.0 in the F-150 vs Mustang I know, but there's enough between them to find some performance parts I am sure).
