2010 wiring help!

Hi all,

I just put in a set of Northern Industrial wide angle lights for additional backup lighting on my 2010 FX-4 SC. They are working great, and were well worth the very few dollars they cost (metal, not plastic, very bright and reasonably adjustable for beam angle.

I mounted them with a complete Optilux wiring harness and followed most of the ideas listed on this site, as well. I had a similar set on my 2004 F-250, wired in the exact same way, to trip off the LED lighted switch from the kit, through a standard Bosch 5 pole relay (4 used...they have an extra 87 pole), and a trip from the factory backup light wire. My wiring is set up like the Optilux "N" install instructions form the Optilux web site...other than I use the 30 power pole for the switch power as well and the 86 pole for the switch relay...and the 86 pole for the backup light trip line...if I can find it.

However, on this 2010 f-150, I cannot seem to find the correct wire for the reverse light to trip the 86 pole. I checked and found the factory backup bulbs have a gray/light brown stripe wire and also a black/green stripe. I did not try the black/green since that same wire color also went to all the other rear lights as well...making me think it is the ground. So I tried the gray/light brown, and it did not work, either with the switch in the system or with the switch completely bypassed.

I tired the gray/dark/brown stripe wire from the factory 7 prong trailer plug, and it did not work. I looked and did not find any black/pink wire that some have discussed as the backup trip line....

As is sits now, the system works just fine with the switch. I would really like to have it both ways, so the factory reverse lights trip the relay as well as the switch. I sure some of you electrical wizards here can help...

What wire should I look for the factory reverse trip wire to the 86 pole? My truck was made in approximately May/June of 2010. Oh, and any other ideas will also be appreciated...

TIA,,

JJ

My backup light works fine in my 7 way on the fx4 2010. Maybe you need to check for the factory fuse?
