2011 5.0 Exhaust

Anybody put exhaust on theirs yet? I was looking under mine & looks like there is a resonator after cats, before muffler. Is that what that is & will it have any ill effects to remove? I want to go SIDO with flowmaster super 44. Had this on my 5.4 '09 but can't remember if it had resonator.

I think the resonators are new this year. I would love to hear a 5.0 without the resonator but with the oem muffler. I plan on leaving my exhaust stock for now except a weld-on Magnaflow SS exhaust tip.

Yea I didn't remember my '09 having one. So go get your muffler shop to put in a straight pipe to eliminate it & let me know how it sounds! I like my stock chrome tip.

I thought about the Ford Chrome Tip but I think the ones on the '04-'08 look lame. Are the '11 tips any better looking?

Yea, look alot better. Pretty beefy. If I had another one I'd use them.

I can't wait to receive my 5.0. Should be delivered next month. Blue07STX, since you currently have your 2011 F150 with the 5.0, How do you think it would sound with true dual 2.5" pipes into a dual inlet/outlet magnaflow?

Wish I could say but have never had magnaflow on any of my vehicles. Like all the claims made as to their benefits but have yet to hear a mf set up I liked. Just too tame for me.

Nope - same clamp on piece that is just a bit larger diameter than before. It also has a rolled edge tip... I am not a big fan of those. I would rather a slash cut tip. Dodge has done very well at making their exhausts look good from the factory. I never would buy a Dodge truck though.

The 2011 SuperCrew is going to be my wife's daily driver and she said she wanted an exhaust without being to loud and a few other minor things for her new truck. So I decided to do true duals 90ed out. My 05 Super Cab is my play toy and my daily driver is a stock 99 ranger standard cab. Anyone with a 5.0 have an opinion on how true dual 2 1/2" pipes with a dual inlet/outlet magnaflow might sound?

I have true dual 4x9x14" - 2.5" Magnaflow's on my 4 cat '94 Lightning with the 351W engine. It has a much smoother tone than the rusted FM 40 series it had when I purchased it with a lot less drone. It is loud when I get on it but not overly obnoxious.

As I get older I prefer a exhaust with less drone at cruise. Working around aircraft for 21 years has given me a slight hearing loss but the VA will say otherwise.

I would recommend a dual setup with an x-pipe with 4x9x18" Magnaflow's to keep the drone down. The 5.0L sounds really good from the factory with the resonator and hi-flow muffler. I'm not sure what pipe size to use but I would say 2.5" mandrel bend pipe for optimal performance.

I may start with removing the resonator but not for a few years.

I just hope the 5.0 in the F150 doesn't sound like the 5.0 in the Mustang. I heard one the other day with an offroad X-pipe and Flowmasters - sounded terrible.

Well, to my surprise my wife sent me an email with a picture of a muffler. She told me she called my dad to see what kind of muffler he would recommend for our new truck. He had her order a Magnaflow dual inlet/ dual outlet muffler with a true-x center, 4x9x18. I guess those questions my dad was asking about exhaust was to get my thoughts. Now all I need is for my truck to get delivered. It should be home when I go on r and r next month, I hope. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread.

I hope she enjoy's a loud exhaust. The dual inlet/outlet muffler will be pretty loud. I would recommend the 22" version, prt #12568 with the Tru-x perforated core, $116.59 at Summit Racing.

The Stang 5.0 sounds like garbage with the FM muffler's. I don't think I've heard an exhaust that I like other than the oem ehaust. A Borla or Corsa may sound pleasing.
