2010 F150 Screw Lariat 4WD - Pic and Question
Well folks, I used to post here a lot when I had my 2006 FX4....did a brief run with a Mustang/4WD Ranger combo in the driveway....but now I'm back to 1 vehicle...a 2010 F150 Screw Lariat 4WD...loaded up, leather - I really like it. I bought it used with 11K miles on it for good money. Not a scratch on it.
Yesterday was the first time I had been able to detail it up for the 2 weeks since I bought it, because of snow and ice around here. I snapped a couple of pictures in the dark.
My likes so far:
SYNC System is great....love the leather....comfortable seats, to me....very roomy....relatively quiet and a good ride, but it's a truck - Not a Lexus...steering feels good...love the backup sensors and camera...it has Rosen DVD headrest system for the rear passengers for a nice touch...Sony audio system is nice and clear, with good tone, and I like the sub under the rear seat (good enough for me)...the bed has Line-X, and the man-step...while kinda gay...is convenient.
My dislikes so far:
The transmission. It shifts crappy, as noted in many threads here...the 1-2 shift from a stop is pretty rough feeling, and the truck constantly feels like it's hunting for gears. I've read many of the threads here about having the transmission flashed and may end up doing that. I've also done the "Diamondbird Mod" or the "Placebo Accelerator Calibration" whichever you choose to believe - Personally, I really can't tell a difference.
The fuel mileage isn't great. 36 gallon tank....getting 12's in town, 17's on highway....with lousy winter blend 87 octane at $3.15 a gallon.
I'm wondering if I should just put a programmer on it? Would that fix my crappy shifting issues and improve fuel economy a little bit? In the past, I've always put programmers on after lifting, big wheels and tires, intakes, exhaust, etc....so I really don't have a feel for whether or not they can actually help improve economy. Any advice?
Oh well, anyway....I'm back....you guys were always a cool crowd. My only mods thus far have been SolarGard Supreme 15% window tint on the front windows + windshield strip, and Husky WeatherBeaters floor mats....both of which have been great additions.
