I just read it again seems like they are most likely the '11's. Says during a six day period on newer vehicles.

I wonder if this has to do with bad PCMs (from Mexico) they had discovered and soon put thousands of vehicles on 'hold', although some slipped through - i.e. read about a guy with an early 2011 Raptor whose PCM died on him, and needed to have it replaced:

"In a six-day period that is not specified, a supplier made body control modules that may produce an electrical short, Ford told NHTSA in its filing."

This was on MSN:

DETROIT — Ford is recalling nearly 15,000 trucks and crossovers due to problems with electrical systems that can short and create a fire.

The Detroit automaker said Thursday that the recall includes some 2011 model year F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles.

A Ford supplier of a control module produced the faulty product over a six-day period

Owners may call Ford at 1-866-436-7332 to see if their vehicle is included in the recall.

Just driving by it would be tough to tell 09 or 10 from an 11. There are quite a few on dealers lots and quite a few sold. The delay was for only some F150s, not all by far.

Post#5 explains the build-date vehichles invloved. I am glad mine is not.

The badge on the side of SD trucks is how I tell the difference. I've seen maybe a dozen or so driving around.

jmmac, yes, these things seem to slip through sometimes. The first 2011 Mustang GTs built were on hold for two months for something that slipped through the QC process. Fortunately, they caught it before enough of them went to dealers to warrant a recall. No sweat, they'll get it fixed.

Juicy details:

Vehicle type:
Ford Edge, F-150, and
F-Super Duty Vehicles
Lincoln MKX

Year:
2011

Description of Recall:
Safety Recall 10S14: Body Control Module Inspection.
In some of the affected vehicles, the Body Control Module (BCM) may have a contaminated power circuit board. The contamination may lead to a short circuit which can lead to many different failure modes including potential for a fire. Before demonstrating or delivering any of the vehicles involved in this recall, dealers are to determine if module replacement is required by using the "Read BCM Serial Number" function of IDS. This special function is available in IDS release 70.03B and higher or 71.01 and higher. This service must be performed on all affected vehicles at no charge to the vehicle owner.
