2011 6.2 platnum

Am I right in assuming the 6.2 on the Platinum, can only be ordered with the heavy duty towing package, which means you have to get the Elephant ear towing mirrors.

No, you do not have to get tow mirrors to get the 6.2L.
The 6.2L is oder code 996, and the Max tow packages are order codes 60M 60P or 60C.

Well I am not arguing,I will have to go into the dealership to be sure. The Build and Price site will not let you add a 6.2 to a platinum supercrew 5.5 4x4 without automatically adding the Heavy Duty Tow Package With the Elephant ear Mirrors.

That's cuz as of now it's the only way to get it other than the lariat limited, harley or raptor

wrong. as per page 15 of the order guide (Max tow = big mirrors):

6.2L V8/Electronic 6-Spd. Auto with Tow/Haul Mode (Platinum requires Max Trailer Tow Package – 60C and 145" WB)

Harley and Limited get the regular mirrors - well they don't even offer the max tow for those models anyways.

Toolcrib, you could always swap out the mirrors, but the only thing I've read is that people had a hard time to get the powerfold feature to work even though the regular Platinum already comes with that feature.

The elephant ears are probably one of my favorite features on my platinum, no more blind spots

Platinum 6.2

I attempted to order 6.2 Platinum. Was told have to get HD towing pkg. with big mirrors. I decided not to order, dealer ordered a Limited and wants me to check it out when it arrives. He said Ford had a Limited at the dealer showing in Texas and he thought it was just as sharp as the Platinum. Anyone seen a Limited?

Even if you got the bigger mirrors I'm sure someone on here would trade you. Plenty of people prefer the bigger ones.

I wish I had the tow mirrors. The only downside is the tow mirrors don't powerfold, but it is worth the trade off for the extendable tow mirrors.

I have the big mirrors, and want the small powerfold. Maybe we can work something out?

My dealer told me the tow mirrors were able to be deleted from the max tow package for 2009 and 2011, but not my year of 2010.

Not sure if this applies for 2011, but the 2008 Limited didn't have any front tow hooks. Something to consider if this is still the case and you may have occasion to use them.

Here's a limited on Ebay. 2wd. Definitely different look and no tow hooks.

2wd wouldnt have the hooks. Would think they would use the chrome hooks off the platinum models.
