Picked Up 2011 Lariat Last Night

Picked up my new 2011 White Platinum/Adobe Lariat 4x4 last night.

Fully loaded and has the 5.0. Coming from an '09 I can say this one pulls harder and stronger. Exceptionally smooth and sounds better than my '09 with my Magnaflow on it. Drove it 40 miles home last night and averaged 17.8mpg in mixed driving.

It is a Dearborn build.

Very impressed so far. Especially like the new instrument cluster. Sweet.

And I bet you don't regret getting the 5.0 one bit over the EB! Congrats!

This is only a guess, but I'd assume becuase the MPG of the 6.2 SUCKS. Even the 5.0 gets the same basic mileage as the 5.4 as it is. Yes, yes, and I know for those who'll yell at me that it's more power for same mileage, yep got it.

Is the Lariat one of the trims that gets the remote start standard, that activates the heated seats 'n all? That should be very cool. Does it activate the front & rear defrost automatically too? That'd be even better! Tired of having to remember to turn on defrost before shutting truck off each evening so that it activates at remote startup.

What I don't understand is if it has more power, why is the towing capacity less? Even the 6.2 has no more towing capacity than the 5.4 in 2010.

It's just a numbers game. Ford is playing with them so that they 6.2 doesn't look as desireable as other engine options.

No matter what combo you buy, it will do what you want.

What I'm more interested in is the deal. What did you get for rebates (1500 is what we have here in NH) and what was the dealer discount? The trucks I saw at a local dealership showed a combined discount of about 5000.

5.0 doesn't have the Max Trailer Tow Package. Even if it has a 6.2 there has to be limit to the towing in a half ton. The ratings are not solely based on horsepower.

They all tow sufficiently well. Who buys a F-150 to tow 11,000+ pounds? People doing that should get a Super Duty.

The max tow package does nothing to increase the trucks towing capacity (over the regular tow package). Ford didn't allow the max tow on the 5.0 for several reasons. One, they are trying to sell more ecoboosts, two Ford is adopting the new SAE towing standards and the 5.0 having less power can't tow as much.
