Hi All,
I just got my new 2010 F-150, with the 4.6L V8 motor!!!!!

i drive hard, and use the "Remote Start" all the time in Wisconsin Cold.

I am thinking,...
1. i should change the oil every 4,000
2. i should use full synthetic?
3. can i use the Fram Oil Filter? PH2?
4. what is a M1 filter? Motorcraft

ADVICE PLEASE,
and what are the Numbers for these parts?
Motorcraft Oil filter = ?
WIX oil filter = ?
Fram oil filter = PH2?

**D O N ' T** use a Fram Filter. they're crap!

I'd use a motorcraft.....dont know the entire model #, but I remember seeing FL-820S?

 

Motorcraft Synthetic Blend every 5K miles with a Motorcraft filter is what I've used since 2001 on my '01 F150, '02 Mustang GT and my '07 F150. The filter part number is in your owner's manual and it is most likely FL-820S.

I have found that Walmart is the best place to buy Motorcraft oil and oil filter.

i did my first oil change at 2K and went to Full Synthetic motocraft and a motocraft filter. changed it again at 12,000K miles to pennzoil full synthetic and a Wix filter. wix is the best

YES, Motorcraft FL-802-S is the owners manual.
it says, either Synthetic Blend or Full Synthetic, and
5W-20 weight oil

 

what is the wix # ?
and where did you buy it?

we have Advance Auto, Auto Zone, or NAPA, here in Wisconsin.

i got mine at o'reillys. they can be ordered off amazon too

 

The Wix is a good filter, but it's no better than the Motorcraft.

Stick with MotorCraft parts & you will be good!

 

NAPA filters are made by WIX, and you will spend less $$!

 

I'm surprised that nobody suggested that you have somebody else "enjoy" your first oil change - specifically the part where you remove the oil filter. Ford has virtually eliminated that dreaded "oil filter unscrews itself dumping oil all over the road" problem through the use of a space age epoxy. This epoxy holds the original oil filter in place and defies all conventional means of removal - including the frequent use of really bad words. The most common problem encountered when attempting to remove the original filter is the flipping over of the entire truck as the oil filter takes it around with it. Very embarrasing indeed.

Once that first filter is off though, you should be fine!

 

The gorilla from the factory is to blame!

 

I did my first oil change, and the Orginal filter came off with NORMAL pressure, using a regular oil filter wrench.
i did not have any problems.
