USB 2 don't like cold weather???
This is strange.....
Two mornings in a row, headed into work and noticed the radio was on bluetooth from my phone instead of the hard drive that I have installed on my usb 2 input. So I press the voice button and say "usb 2" then Veronica (sync chick) tells me "no usb 2 device detected" then switches back to bluetooth from my phone.
Yesterday it was 30° so I thought my hard drive was cold and needed to be warmed up so I cranked the heater up and set it on the dash. A little bit later I gave the usb 2 command and she switched it over and it worked fine...
This morning it was 29° and the same thing happened, when I opened my glove box I could tell the power light was on on the hard drive so I unplugged it and plugged it into my main usb input and told veronica "usb" and it started playing fine... I plugged my flash drive into usb 2 and still no device detected. Same thing with my ipod. the flash drive and ipod had been in the house and not cold is the reason i tried them.
I cranked the heater up for a few miles then gave the usb 2 command again and it worked fine...
Anyone else having trouble with sync 2? I am in southeast Texas, surely TEXAS weather is not to cold for sync... I would hate to see it in Michigan...

It was 20º here this morning and 28º yesterday and my USB2 in the glove box worked just fine.
Maybe it's cable/connector related?
The first cable I purchased online for my USB2 had a connector issue right out of the package. Had to have them reship a second one.
Another thing to check would be the connection into the back of the unit. Just throwing out guesses here... maybe you didn't zip tie the cable to the existing USB harness?? (there's no clip to hold it in) or maybe it's tied and pulled out slightly due to cold weather contraction? Just some thoughts...

it's not the USB 2 it's the Hard Drive. The hard drive keeps itself shut off under a certain temperature. If it's that cold take my hard drive inside with me at night and plug it in in the morning.
I took it off of usb 2 and plugged it into usb 1 and it worked then put it back on usb 2 and it didnt work again, as well as my ipod and flash drive did the same thing.
Well mine doesn't act like that. My flash drive works no matter how cold it gets in either USB, it's just my hard drive that acts up. Taking it inside at night fixed my problem and works with USB 2 no matter the temperature.
I understand and I am not disagreeing with you

As I said before, my first cable (on line purchase from china) had a mfg. defect.
The tabs didn't stick up far enough to make contact with whatever you plugged it into. If you squeezed the connector between your thumb and finger while it was attached, sometimes it would make connection but mostly wouldn't. I had them send me a second one. It worked... but out of concern, I took the time to carefully make sure each tab in the second cable had good contact.
I've had zero problems since.
