I betcha the 3.7 in a 2wd standard cab would give a 5.4 Screw 4x4 a good run for its money........

Ford thinks enough of the 3.7 to put it in a 2wd Screw.

2stroked, thanks so much for posting your Ecoboost test drive. My 05 4x4 Lariat Supercab is paid off and I was planning on buying a new Victory cross country m/c next year but, the new Ford F150 engine choices are making this decision really difficult! I need to test drive the EB, 5.0 and 6.2 F150's to find out if a new 4 wheeler is in my future.

I had a 2005 too. My 2010 is light years ahead of it. Drop the EcoBoost in it and you have another great leap. Drive it and believe!

The blue truck is not an EcoBoost. It is actually the 3.7 V6.

good to hear dude. I got a foot of snow the day my test drive was scheduled on so it never happened. Not really making me feel much better the dude called me that night, when I expected he would tell me he couldnt make it cause of the weather, he told me he actually forgot about me on the appointment list .

I thought something was wrong there. From every test I've seen the Ecoboost isfaster than the 5.0.

I guess it depends on the driver though.

If you do the 0-50 times in all the trucks the 5.0 is a little faster than the ecoboost. Ecoboost has an amazing launch but the 5.0 does so well at full throttle...now pulling, ecoboost will kill the 5.0 as well as in town drivability.

Ecoboost Test Drive:

I had the opportunity to drive the F150 Ecoboost today and I have to say that the performance was reasonable for a truck, but not impressive (at least in a Supercrew). It moved the truck well for a 3.5 V6. Under full acceleration, the Ecoboost engine did not push me back in the seat. I was expecting more force since Ford is really talking up the torque numbers.

I couldn't hear the turbos when I mashed on the gas, but you could slightly hear them spool up when you gently accelerate the truck. There was a slight delay when I stomped on it. The intercooler for the turbos is located right behind the front bumper. I don't like it's location because I can see it getting snow, mud, etc in there.

If you are looking to get a Supercrew model with a 4x4 transmission, it would be wise to try the 5.0 as well.

I'll be test driving a 5.0 this Saturday and will post my thoughts on this engine as well.
