Question about blinkers in mirrors...

I want to put the blinker in my mirrors, in the stock positions. However, ford tells me that i have to buy the entire mirrow to get the little light assembly. I have noticed though, that the 04-08 blinker looks like it might fit, but i havent been able to get close enough to one to get a measurement, without looking like a weird-o measuring some strangers mirrors on his truck.

You mean you currently do not have blinkers in your mirrors?

Bluejay, I'm well aware of of that thread and mod as well. I'm not looking for the blinker/reflector mod. I am talking about the factory positioned blinker on the glass side of the mirror. I don't have that blinker, and I want it. Thats the question I am asking. Will the factory blinker light assembly of an 04-08 fit the factory pre-fabed hole for an 09?

I think he is wanting the factory style blinker mirrors not the reflector blinkers...

Texas, Someone should be able to order just the led replacement insert. by looking at the way it is attached there is no reason you cant buy just that part but you know how ford is..

I've got an STX, I bought the reflector for the front side so I can eventually do that mod too, but I want to wait so I can do both at the same time. I just noticed the other day that that 04-08 looked about the same size.

Yep, I had a parts man at the dealer refuse to sell me a keypad handle for my truck. He said it would not work if it didn't come with it. Another guy finally sold it to me, sort of "buyer beware". It worked.

Yeah, I went to buy both at the ford house here so I could do both mods a couple months ago, but I was told to get that little turn signal lense/light I would have to buy the entire mirror. They told me they were not sold separately . That was a couple months ago, so maybe it's changed now, but if the 04-08 would fit, I have much better luck finding that in a local scrap yard an probably pay significantly less too.

They must have it separately, if they fail under warranty they will not replace the whole mirror assembly... Maybe check with Tasca?

i think i found the lenses on some OEM ford parts list. Im going to the Stealership today to see if i can get them, and get a parts number too... I bet i can get them cheaper online than from the actual dealership. I just need a parts number.

So, I went by the dealership today, again, and I was told again, that i could not order or buy the blinker for the mirror, that it (for an 09-11) like 04-08 has to be bought with the entire mirror assembly..... LAME! SO, does anyone have any ideas of any aftermarket lenses that would fit in the factory placement hole??

That sounds like BS, I just bought the glass for the pass side mirror alone at the dealer, no buts or ifs...

I'm not sure if this is what you'd need (Number 3):

$24 at tasca parts

I added them to my STX. I bought them from Tasca. You do have to run the wires from the door to the new blinkers.
