Question about recon light bars for under the tailgate

I was wondering if any of you have installed the recon light bars under your tailgate on a Platinum with the step in the tailgate option and if you had good luck with them? Also I am having a rhino liner sprayed into the bed and will this cause a problem on the lip that extends down where you mount the light bar. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

I don't see it being a problem as it mounts to the lip which is behind the tailgate on the actual bed of the truck and not the tailgate. The rhino lining shouldn't affect it at all as there is plenty of clearance there...just mention to the guys spraying to go light on that area if they are actually going to spray that portion of the bed.

I have a Recon White Lightning on my truck (obviously no step and not a platinum) and have only had 1 issue with it. Right 3 LEDs are finicky and need a tap every now and then to keep them lit...I'm guessing the wiring for those specific LEDs was not up to par and is no degrading and causing a short in the lights...I've had the lightbar for over a year though and no complaints other than that...works and looks great!

Comes apart???? There isn't anything to "come apart" on them (Recon's). I have had an original Recon light bar and have had the same one on 2 trucks and I plan on taking it off my current truck and transfer it over to the 2011 FX2 that I am about to order. All that is needed is new 3M emblem tape.

I have the Recon Fire and Ice light bar from my 06' Installed on my 09' with zero fitment or wiring issues. The light bar was hard wired on both trucks. Super easy, very clean and looks great IMO.

I tested 2 units on my 2010 screw (white lightning) and both have issues. When the reverse wire is hooked up, the entire light bar gets goofy. Parking lights dont work, whole bar flashes with turn signals, etc.

Remove the white reverse wire, and it works fine (of course no reverse lights). Both these bars did the same thing on my brothers 2005 (we both were going to install them on our trucks last night until we ran into issues).

Calling recon today to see if we potentially got 2 out of a bad batch..

Sounds like you wired it wrong. I had a white lightning on my 05 and just installed one on my 2011. No issues at all.

Still haven't hooked up my reverse lights yet...hope I don;t have problems when I get around to hookinem up.
Oh and my truck is spray lined also...that has no bearing on mounting it.
