rustproofing?
rustproofing?
I have just purchased a 2010 SCREW XLT with the chrome package. I am wondering about Ziebarting it? I live in WI with salty roads.
Also, any tips for a newbie would be appreciated.

I've been considering the same question....while I've not ordered my new truck yet, I can't help believe that the best time to rust proof or undercoat it will be before it ever hits the road. To that end I will be checking into the cost/quality of having the dealer do it when it gets there.
I've already decided that my new truck will get "bullhide" on the lower 1/3 to 1/2 of the exterior, so why not protect the underside of the truck too. If I'm going to spend that much money on a rig, I'll be keeping it for a lot of years, so I might as well take care of it from the start.

I undercoated with Rust Bullet when my truck was brand new. I would recommend it as it sprays on easily and sets up hard and is guaranteed for 10 years.

I used to get the Ziebart undercoating and rust proofing done to every truck. I happen to live in what sometimes feels like the road salt capital of the world too. I keep my trucks 3-4 years and felt good about doing it.
Then when I bought my 2002 F-150, for some reason I didn't get it done. Guess what? When I traded the truck in 3 1/2 years later, it didn't look any worse off. So I didn't get it done on my 2005 or my 2010. Do I loose sleep over it? No. The factory builds in a lot more corrosion protection now than they did 10 years ago. If I kept my trucks longer, I might consider it, but I think the local Ziebart place does pretty sloppy work too.
Just my 2 cents.
