New Truck Lead Time

As we wait for Ford to ship the 2011 F-150s, can anyone give me an idea what is the normal lead time?

I know that the trucks have been in more or less full production for about three weeks now (at least in Dearborn). Apparently, we're waiting for the engineers to give the thumbs-up to ship. Until then, thousands of them sit in yards, gathering dust. I understand that the process is important and is designed to minimize issues.

In past model years, how long has this taken?

I'm getting less patient every day. Like a kid at Christmas...I want my new toy!!

I'm waiting for the EB engine to get into production before I order my new truck.....my wife is the book keeper at our local Ford dealership, and I've been in there a dozen times or more seeking information and asking questions about the 2011s.....the best they can tell me on arrival of the new model year F150s is late Dec to mid Jan. (They also tell me that the EB engine SHOULD be available in Feb-Mar 11)

They have been telling me that when I order my truck, it will be 6-12 weeks for delivery, depending on demand at the time I place the order.

That info may not be the best news on lead times, but it's what I've been told.

Thanks for the kind words about what I do....Next year will be 25 years of knifemaking for me.....after serving in the USAF for 22 years, it's now my full time occupation.

We're really hoping that the new rig can be a tax write off for us.....but even if it's not, I think it's gona be a "go" anyway. ")

5point4, you know that your truck's already been built? If so, you're the first one I've heard of.

I'm still waiting on mine. My Order Acknowledgement shows a Priority 1, but it's not even scheduled yet. Mine's an FX2, so I believe that means that it'll be built in Kansas City. They started a couple of weeks after Dearborn. I was under the impression that no trucks had been built yet that were directly for customer orders. Your info seems to throw out that theory.

I've got a road trip on 12/15 that I'd love to have my truck for.

The waiting goes on...

See mines an fx2 as well..how can u tell where it's being built. My original build date was the 15th and a few weeks later(ordered mid October) my sales guy called and told me it's dead on schedule gave me my vin and all and yesterday said that Dearborn has been cleared for shipment..but I don't have any idea where my truck is being built. On my order sheet there is nothing next to the priority so that kinda scares me...but the sales guy said it won't give an update on status until it's been shipped (still not) but he's positive it's sitting outside built just waiting to be loaded up

I've heard that all FX2s are built in KC, but that too could be bad info.

Have you looked up your window sticker? I believe it should show your build plant.

If you haven't looked it up, post your VIN here and we can look it up.

Just checked. Kansas City. Anything else this sticker telle?? Built? Not built? Method of transportation is convoy...what's that mean. This is driving me nuts. Want my truck.

Once the sticker is available, that means that the truck is at least scheduled. I'd be surprised if your dealer was wrong, it was probably built around the 15th. Can you post (or PM me)your VIN? I'd love to see your sticker and compare it to my truck. I think that Convoy means that it'll be shipped by truck, not rail, but once again, that's a guess.

Ok my truck was built on 11/18/10. There are a series of numbers at the top mine said 220101118. Take away the 2 in front and u have 2010-11-18 build date and yes if hauled by train it says rail...so next question...train or truck? Which is faster?? Truck sounds faster to me.

You're only 500 miles away. I'd assume that they could load up a truck full with units for your area and it'd be there in one day. I'd bet truck's faster.
