Eco Boost Invite Test Drive?

The Ford Eco Boost Team has contacted me twice in an attempt to have me test drive an Eco Boost before any of the local dealers receive them.

I'm scheduled for a test drive on 12/8/10. Anyone else receive this invitation?

I wonder how hard they're going to lean on me to purchase?

Tell them you'll test drive it if they give you the final, official EB MPG numbers!

PS I just received a new DVD Map Update notice for my 2009 if I want to pay Ford $199. Forget that, but figured I'd throw it out there for those that may be interested in updating, that another new update is now available.

PPS Don't feel bad, I'm getting stuff from Ford all the time now, as I'm buying a house very soon, and am looking to economize for 10 years or so while I pay off the house fast as possible (I loathe debt of any kind). I have tons of Fusion Hybrid, MKZ Hybrid, even 2012 Focus flyers all piled up in my bedroom. It'll be strange since I've had 4 brand-new F-150's since 1996, but I'll get over 3 times the gas mileage by trading-in this behemoth. Perhaps even a tad more, considering my driving is about 99% City, where the hybrid really shines. I'm glad they came out with the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid because I'm used to all the bells 'n whistles of loaded Lariat's and Platinum's. It even has Adaptive HID's and LED tails, something the F-150 should have had since 2004. I'll be keeping my Platinum until May or so at least, then trade her out for a new car before my wedding in June. New house, new car, wife = all good. I'll be interested to see what type of MPG the new Focus gets in City driving. I imagine we'll hear more about Ford's new products at the big auto show in January.

I signed up for My Vehicle on the Ford website when I purchased my '07. The Eco Boost Team has contacted me by email three times in the last month. I finally decided to give in. They are actually delivering the truck to me at work. I hope they give me some good stick time. I will take as many photo's as possible.

An Eco Boost Team Rep contacted me by phone yesterday evening. I can take one person with me on the test drive and it will last approximately 10 minutes. They also mentioned this is a one of a kind test drive on a vehicle not yet released to the public.

That tells me no photo's and no looking under the hood. We'll wait and see what transpires.

I got an email last month about a test drive, and wrote back, telling them where I lived, and requesting a test drive at my home (I work from home). I've not heard anything back from them yet. Living where I do (north central Montana) I would suspect I won't get a call until the EBs arrive at our local dealership.

A 10 min test drive? That's it? Around here it takes that long to get from the dealership to the interstate! I would hope they would let me crawl all over the truck...inside and out, and I'd be asking questions as fast as I could spit them out. I've been doing my homework for about 6 months now on the EB F150s, and have been into the local dealership at least 1/2 dozen times asking questions and gathering info. So far they have been wonderful, and I would expect no less from the folks offering the test drives. IF they want me to plunk down the kind of cash that these rigs will cost, they better be willing to answer any questions I have and let me look at anything I want.

You're supposed to sign up online for a date/time, or call them if the dates don't work for you. They don't call you.

This maybe explains why you have been so pessimistic about F150s lately. Are you really going to trade it in on a car? I love the new Lincolns. But I'd love to see a fwd Lincoln MKZ Hybrid or Ford Focus in a foot of snow in snowy MA. One thing I like about having a truck is if I go to work or anyplace and at the end of the day there is a foot of snow on the ground I don't have to worry. A 4x4 truck can get in and go anywhere without any problems. A MKZ would be good for me as a secondary vehicle would save gas, but as the primary vehicle it would cause worse and more problems when snow hits and owning a new house. Good luck in your decision.

Got a call about an hour after I filled out the online form to confirm it and they said it would be a 15-20 minute drive and I could bring a friend.

I know it's off topic, but I'd suggest you rethink your position, unless you have easy access to a way to transport large heavy items. A truck is almost essential when you own your home.

A 15-20 min. test drive would certainly be better but they specifically said "approximately 10 minutes". Let us know if you get to peak under the hood or get any photo's.
