New truck configurations

Hey guys, just want to CONFIRM that Ford has changed the truck configurations with the newer ones. Let me explain: I have a 03 Lariat FX4.....I can't seem to get this with a new one as it seems Ford has the Lariat as a trim level and FX4 as another/different trim level.

Is it possible to get an 11 Lariat FX4? On my vehicle year I'm pretty sure FX4 was just a shock/offroad and maybe gear package....but it looks like on the new ones it is it's own trim level. Is this correct??---DirtySCREW

New for 2011. You can get the Lariat with the off-road package. This is like the FX4, but in a Lariat, King Ranch, XLT, etc.

ok...NOT to beat a dead horse...just trying to understand the difference between a

Lariat with the off-road package

and

FX4 with the Luxury package

Are they "basicly" the SAME except the FX4 would obviously have the sticker on the side of the bed?

Lariat has wood trim; FX4 has faux carbon fiber like black look. Lariat has optional cooled seats, sunvisor with garage door option, etc. Of course I'm speaking 2010 for these but believe that still holds true. The bonus with the 11's is as mentioned above. You can get many of the FX4 features with off road package. There's many differences; so many that i'd suggest you look at the website and compare the specs. There's a bunch!

Yea, I feel like I have the BEST of both worlds in my truck as it is a Lariat FX4! I told the Mrs. if I got a new one I wanted the same....now I see that I can come close....but can't. And I wish to God car companies could be like Honda and have 3 packages (they have LX, EX and EX-L). If you want something upgrade to the next package. With Ford, Chevy etc....there's like literally 1,000 ways to configure the same truck!!! eh, I can't afford a new truck right now anyway....just dreaming----DirtySCREW

BTW, (F150) 2003 was the last year the FX4 pkg was offered as pkg option like what you have.

Although for the Superdutys it switched back to what you had for 2011.

FX4 Luxury vs. Lariat:

Only real diff I've noticed in real content is Lariat has cooled seats and rear seat armrest.

Yea..I think I like the chrome bumpers/grille on the Lariat. If I ever win the lottery...might just have to get the Lariat and have the FX4 sticker put on at the dealer. But of course I REALLY want a DIESEL LARIAT FX4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!--------DirtySCREW

Yes that too.

The deal breaker for me on the lariat is the wood grain trim, and that grille. Starts to add up when you want to replace that!

I think the trucks look better with no stickers anyway. I removed mine on my 2003 Lariat FX4. If you want any particular stickers, they should cost less than $20 and can be put on any truck. The styling differences between the trim level (FX4 and Lariat) should determine what you buy. The off road capabilities will be the same for 2011 that has the e-locker available on the Lariat too.

Couldn't you get an XLT Lariat at one time? Now those are separate trim levels.

Yep. My son in law has a 98 Supercab XLT Lariat with offroad package. The F-150 badges on the front fenders say XLT, the side pinstriping says Lariat, and the big decals on the rear bed sides say Offroad.
