I agree, if you are choosing between the EB and 6.2, get the 6.2. That thing was awesome. The EB was good, but not awesome.

Can you elaborate a bit? Why was the 6.2 awesome compared to the EB? I'm not doubting your statement seeing as you've driven both and I've driven neither, I am just curious as to your experiences.

Since you didn't get to tow with the EB what are you basing your statement on? It's sure not the acceleration advantage of the 6.2 as there was none. Is it the big V-8 sound? Or the estimated 12/17 mpg ratings of the 6.2.

Has to be the sound - a big truck ain't supposed to sound like a V-6.............

I just took the time to watch these. It was interesting to see and hear about the interiors of the Chevy and Dodge. Especially, since I never considered buying anything other than a Ford when I got my new truck. That Ecoboost seems like a pretty good engine.

They didn't have a 6.2 for towing, so I can't comment on that. But yes, the acceleration of the 6.2 was better than the EB. It had a much different power band, just as the 5.0 did. The EB was boring to me. Yes, the torque is there almost immediately, but that was it. So, combining the accleratiion, sound and overall feel of the 6.2, I would choose the 6.2 unless I was doing a ton of towing (gas mileage). Overall, I like the 5.0. But ,if I were ever to get rid of my Mustang and not have it to hot rod around in, the 6.2 in a truck would be my choice.

This is what I keep having to tell myself because I am having some cognitive dissonance about the purchase of my 2010. When I bought the truck, I was completely in the dark about the new 2011 engine line-up. Every single engine is tantalizing in its own way, but both V6 engines seem to offer great economy for a full-size truck. I am even very impressed with what I have seen of the 3.7, but that EB just blows me away with what it promises. It is killing me to think that a powerhouse like this could nearly equal the fuel economy of my old 4 cylinder Toyota Tacoma.

There is no replacement for the sound of a V8. Even the "little" 4.6 sounds pretty sweet, particularly in the upper RPM range. As much as I keep telling myself how good what I have is, I am contantly obsessed with gas mileage and I admittedly bought the wrong vehicle to achieve great fuel mileage. The EB just seems like the Holy Grail of pick-up engines provided it proves reliable and people can get beyond its lack of sound...

...or you could just get one of these:

Hopefully we will see twin turbo charged V8's in the near future instead of just this V6.

Wouldn't that be good.

If they offered a DI TT V8, no one would be bitching about turbos...

I doubt it will happen. Fuel economy is the goal of the new market, not large displacement gas-guzzlers. The reason for the TT V6 was for V8 power with better efficiency/fuel economy.
