2010 or 2011?

So...if you were in the market right now for a Lariat or Platinum 4X4, would you seriously look at a 2010 or wait for the 2011?

I am interested in the V6EB due to gas mileage and performance. But, if they are offering GREAT deals on a 2010 I could be persuaded to look hard at that option since the gas mileage savings may end up being paid for by the discounted price...?

Thoughts?

Once the 2011's hit the dealer lots, there will be minimal incentives on the table. So, considering the deals available to close out MY 2010, you could likely never save enough on fuel to justify the 2011 over the 2010. If, on the other hand, you absolutely have to have the latest and greatest, the ecoboost, or the 6.2; then you'll find a way to justify it in your mind. They will pretty much look alike and drive alike and when the GM launches their updated pickups the Ford incentives could increase a little--depending on how serious the competition ends up being.

I would wait just for the 2011 justto get the updated transmission. The current 6 speed has not been that great.

Lariat or Platinum crewcab incentives

2010: $3500.

2011: $1500.-$2500.

Choose wisely.

Screw the savings. Give me the better performing truck. I'll pay a little extra for years of better driving / towing performance.

And, for the record, you can find a lot of other responses to this exact same question if you search this forum...

The 2011 F-150 is launching with $2500 in rebate, vs. I think $6500 for a 2010. 6 mopnths from now, the rebates will be up on the 2011 models. So you will spend more for the 2011 models for a few months, but $10k off has been achievable for high featured F-150's since I bought my 2003. Just need to decide if you can wait 6+ months to get a better price on a 2011.

resale value is worse buying the older year so if you think of switching out in a few years it's better to get a 2011. If you're a person to keep something for a long time then it's not too bad.

To me, that's an argument FOR the newer truck. Why buy a weaker, poorer performing vehicle when there's a better truck sitting right next to it at the dealer lot?

It might feel better signing the dotted line, but it's something I would regret as soon as I left the dealer lot. Give me the 2011......

I had similar questions, but the Dealership offered me a loaded 2wd 2010 Lariat for $29,376, that's with a $42,210 sticker price. At the time, no real incentives were offered for the 2011's.

Also the 2011 engines/drivetrains are brand new. Who knows what problems they will have. The 5.4L in the 2010 is tried and true. I'd hold off on the new stuff for a year or 2.

Either way you will be getting a great truck. I would take the big fat rebate and the 5.4 L

I have to agree with the others who say it's not a good idea buy a brand new model of any type of car or truck , but hey , it's your money ..

Why not buy a few shares of Ford stock, get the X plan pricing and the rebate on the 2011? For me, I am going to buy a 2011. I am going to wait to see the magazine reviews/comparisons and do my own test drives to decide between the EB and the 5.0. I agree with what was said eariler, I think the resale value on the 2011 will be much better than a 2010. Although the 2010's are very tempting with about $9k off MSRP.

2010 Pricing - thoughts?

OK...so I talked to the dealer and they said the "best" they could do for a 4X4Lariat was $35,650 and $39,600 for the Platinum. Both of the trucks have the Platinum package with 3.55 rear end, heated / cooled seats, moon roof, camera, 20" wheels, etc...

How do you think these will compare to a 2011? What about the pricing in general?
