how to wire reverse lights to go on with cargo lights
Do NOT connect them together; at minimum you'll blow a fuse if you're lucky.
You'll need to use the gray with purple as the trigger on a relay for the reverse lights and a diode to prevent feedback to the reverse light circuit

Tap into the reverse light wire on the trailer wiring harnes (center pin IIRC on the 7 wire) and ground it to the chassis. Should be an easy job. I just installed the RECON "lightning bar" on mine and it took a hour or so. I took it easy and soldered the connections as well as taped it up well. A set of lights should be easy ... hardest part would be mounting them depending on the type you buy. The cap of the 7 pin connection will tell you which wire to use.
Hope this helps.

This offers the ability to independently control the lights.
Also - depending upon the lights chosen, this appraoch will ensure you don't exceed the current capacity of the trailer wiring harness. Some folks run 2 X 50w halogens for aux lighting - the 7-pin feed is not the way to go. It can be used, however, to trigger a relay that is fed from a more robust source.
