Option packages on the 2011s

I was at our local dealership yesterday, discussing the 2011s. In the past when ordering option packages, you could delete parts of a given package if you didn't want specific items within that option package. (you still pay for the entire option packages, but you had the ability to delete specific items in the package(s) Seems that's no longer the case. The fella that I have been working with told me that with the 2011s, you get the whole option package or none of it. The up side is that the 2011 order guide lists some decent discounts when ordering multiple option packages.

For me, that's going to mean that when I order a truck, there are going to be several things on it, that I really don't want, but those items will be there in order for me to get those things I do want.

So, in the past you were willing to pay for options that you didn't receive?

What sort of options are they providing that you might not want?

Yes, if a package included something that I absolutely did not want, I would order the package and have them leave out the specific item(s) that I did not want. It was a choice that we used to have......not anymore.

The one instance that comes to mind is the 18" "chrome clad" wheels that are included when the XLT Chrome Package is ordered. I think those wheels are just plain ugly, and if a person orders the XLT Chrome Package, those are the only option for wheels you have. I want to stick with 17" wheels for a number of reasons, including the fact that 17s are much less expensive to replace.

There is also the XLT Plus Package.....that package must be ordered to get the power sliding rear window, but it also includes a "Reverse Sensing System"....and I have no idea what that is. (?)

That's the sensors on the rear bumper that assist you when backing into a parking space.

It is a warning system that alerts you when you get within 3 feet of an object behind you. The closer you get the quicker it beeps. Once you are within a foot the tone goes solid. It makes parallel parking and hooking up a trailer by yourself much easier.

I didn't want it when I was looking for my 05 but it was on the truck and didn't change the price. Now I wouldn't have a truck without it.

As far as wheels go, you might be able to swap wheels with another truck that has the 17's you want on the dealer's lot. If they'll let ya anyway.
