FX2 and tow mirrirs??

Ok so I ordered my 2010 fx2 around May and picked it up near the end of July. When ordering I tried to get the OEM tow mirrors and was told they could not place that order on the fx2 package. I argued with them for a bit and then let it go, assuming it was because of the color match mirror caps. Now I'm seeing all kinds of FX4's with colored caps on tow mirrors. Did I get punked or is there a legitimate reason??

The tow mirrors requires Max Trailer Tow Package which is not available on FX2 Sport Package. You could have gotten them on an XLT or FX4.

I got the trailer tow package, just not the "max" package. But really should it make a difference? The Bodies are the same, its not like they wouldn't fit.

Big tow mirrors don't fit the style they were going for in a 2 wheel drive Sports Package. It also cuts down on excessive build combinations.

I see people always wanting to trade thiers for regular mirrors. I personally love the tow mirrors, I think it makes the truck look like well a truck.

I would just order them through Tasca and sell your factory ones.

My aftermarket ****'s fit with a new wedge, so I don't technically need them now. I was just trying to find out if they are available when ordering and my dealer wouldn't do it for some reason. There are so many options out there, like HD lights that aren't listed that you would think the ones that are listed would be available. As for the whole 2WD sport package wrong look thing, then they shouldn't be offered on the FX4 either. The 2WD's towing capabilities are better then the 4WD. It's just frustrating, our dealer (not dealership) was a complete waste of time.

Well now you know you. The dealer gave you correct info and you wanted to argue with them. You could have checked it out beforehand. FX4 with 3.73 and the max tow package can tow 11,200+. 2wd XLt tows 9000+/- depending on what engine and options you have. I agree with Rambo. The sports package is for a particular look. If you go back to the original press release for when they introduced it in 2007 it was designed for a stylish look not towing. Don't like the mirrors simply change them.

---

The new F-150 FX2 carries on the tradition of targeting key customer groups, offering a sport truck aimed at customers looking for a more stylish appearance without the need for 4WD.

“The FX2 is a very different approach for F-150,” says Raj Sarkar, assistant marketing manager for F-150. “It looks aggressive both because of its design and its stance. Younger customers are more image conscious, and this truck makes a style statement.”

I just swapped out my 2wd Standard Mirrors for Tow Mirrors with another member. Easy install and the Paint to match caps were $15 a piece.

I missed the bigger mirrors from my SuperDuty, and the standards werent cutting it. Heat, Signal, Dim, Puddle lamps etc, worth it in my opinion.
