Really loud cab when it rains!

I have a 2010 FX4 screw. It's been raining a lot in the Hampton roads area of VA. I noticed it sounds like I'm under a tin roof! does anyone else have this problem? It's almost like someone at the factory forgot to put in the stuff the goes between the liner and roof of the truck.

There's no stuff between liner and roof on my truck ! Doesn't seem very noisy.

Yeah, I'm in NC, we're getting dumped on right now as well. Only large raindrops seem to provoke the "tin-roof effect", but other than that, it's pretty quiet. Can you post a video? That would probably be the best way of comparing (other than hopping in a buddy's identical truck)

I've had the headliner down to install a harness. There's no insulation up there. If it bugs you, drop the headliner and put in some attic insulation. Might help.

Dang...I was only seeing if anyone else noticed this? Same thing about my truck bed shaking thread. The solution for me in the rain is to turn up the radio. The solution for the bed shaking is not to look in the mirror when I go over a bump or try to avoid the pot holes better. I don't remember my 02 scab FX4 doing either one of these things. This is my first new truck and don't really know what to expect. I know the truck is not going to be perfect but its new and it had a sticker of $45,000. Like I said I am just wondering if anyone else noticed the same thing. Also noticed when crawling in traffic the truck shakes like I have warped rotors...I didn't expect that to happen to a new $45,000 truck! I am just voicing my concerns.

I have a 2010 Lariat Scab. I don't think rain noise is an issue at all, and hardly noticeable in my truck. As a matter of fact, I'm pleased with how the quite the interior is. In an extremely hard rain any car is going to have some noise. I figure it's an outstanding pickup, but then again, it's not a Lincoln Town car, or for that matter a Lexus. It is, what it is. I also have the premium Sony Sound System, maybe that helps some too.

I've noticed the same issue with the bed though. Looking in the rear view mirror over bumps, the bed kind of does it's own thing. But I've talked myself into believing that since the cab is on rubber isolation mounts, I would only assume that it would stand to reason that they designed the bed the same way. After all, if either was hard mounted it would create stress cracking of the frame.

Now that's bed wobble....

As for the hard rain I've noticed too and I just spray some Boom Mat and cleared the problem. (should have taken pics but broke my camera two weeks before I did the job)

I agree about the loud cab. My 2010 screw is so much louder than my 99 superduty scab, not just the rain on the roof, but also the rain from hitting puddles, I believe the amount of sound insulation in the new trucks sucks, if there is any at all. I too wonder why a 40k truck has more road noise, a louder cab and ****tier speakers, and also way slower power windows than my old sd with 192k. Lighter truck equals better milage so I think they leave some stuff out. Also my truck pulsates when i'm creeping ahead slow too, must be someting w the brake system, not the rotors.
