Camping

I love taking trips to the different rivers that run through Texas. Summer's wrapping up and I plan on heading up to the Frio for one more float before October gets here. I cannot explain how excited I am to take my truck on it's first camping trip; putting the miles on it, getting it dirty, reaping the benefits of having a truck. On any river-trip I've taken, I've always rode with someone else. Well, this time, I'm driving!

You guys have any awesome camping experiences in your F-150s?

Go a couple places every year. This last summer went to one of my favorite spots which is also my deer hunting area (hopefully go in October). Lots of offroading areas and wilderness with no one around, great lake and river fly fishing. Didn't enjoy getting the dust off my brakes so they would stop squeeling though. Nothing like driving 55mph on gravel/dirt roads for 20+ miles into the middle of nowhere!

Have fun on your trip

2 buddies and I took my truck to northern Maine for a whitewater rafting/skydiving trip. Didn't get off road much but trip was great, truck is a must for the job that amount of ***** you have to load up to go camping...I wouldn't want to try it in a car.

Was a tent camper and liked having the bed for all the supplies. Usually was towing some ATVs. Now I have 3 kids and tow a travel trailer with my F-150, less stuff in the bed and riding is done on day trips, so no camping.

Pulled my 6000 lbs travel trailer up to Colorado this summer. Even going over passes, the truck pulled like a dream. Once we were there, took some old logging roads back into the mountains in search of trout. Was a great trip. Even got better gas mileage than I expected. For the 1600 mile round trip I averaged 11.2 mpg. Not too shabby.

Awesome. I just finished planning a short trip with my brother. We'll probably heading up to Concan next weekend for a day or two.

Camping... Hmmm. Think what I do is called RVing.

First trip with the new truck pulling the 5000 lb camper. No issues, towed easily. Spent 1/2 a week in St. Augustine. Too dang hot to "camp" here this time of year. But the A/C in the camper kept it about 74 degrees.
