Small problem, need help!

Hi gents, my problem is that I switched out the factory headlight bulbs with a pair of Hella bulbs a while ago. I guess they pulled too much power and in doing so melted the connector module that plugs into the bulb, so now my left headlight doesn't work. Ford says it happens alot and would cost about $160 for the parts needed plus installation. However my question is, do I need to use any of the factory connections if I decide to install a McCullock HID kit or similar kit or do these kits come with everything?

I'm on vacation right now and would love to handle this situation before I begin my return trip. Thanks in advance for your help.

Most HID kits utilize the factory bulb connection. EDIT: I just checked my kit and it uses the LEFT (passenger) factory connector. The right (driver) is left unconnected.

Go to https://www.ddmtuning.com/support/in...1&pcid=0&nav=0 and select H13 H/L HID Install

If you have any mechanical skills, you should be able to purchase the required parts (I'd call Tasca (http://www.tascafordparts.com/) and replace the connector yourself.

Hey Tim, if you have a little free time, spend an hour reading MGD's posts. It won't be a wasted hour - most of them are hilarious!

Okay - back to the thread...

I have a McCulloch 8K kit in my headlights....you will need to make sure you get the wiring harness for the lights so that you don't use the stock wiring for power. This should enable you to utilize the factory headlight switch in the dash without replacing the damaged Ford factory wiring. The wiring harness connects on the left and right side, but the control switch should be utilized on the left (passenger) side factory wiring plug.

can purchase everything from www.ultrabrightlights.com (wiring harness is about $35)
