Viper 5901 Install

How much did you guys pay for your install plus Viper 5901 alarm? I feel I got a hell of a deal, only paying $350 for everything. One thing I'm curious about is did you guys have to use one of your keys for the bypass module? The module they used required me to and now I'm having to buy another pats key (already bought from ebay) and have a locksmith cut and program it. Is this normal or did they just used a out of date module? (The module was from DEI though)

They used an out of date module. I had mine installed almost a year and a half ago, and neither of my keys had to be used for the bypass module. $737.72 ($350 was install) was the total for all my parts and install, but I also bought almost every additional module available.

Very interesting.... i just had a 5901 installed yesterday for about $500 including parts and remote start and my local shop had the very same problem. Their only solution at the end of the day was to burn a key using an universal module... i told them no way and we will work together to find the right module. I mean seriously... we are not the first F150s to have his done. More to come this week...

Well I recommend just buy a oem pats key from ebay for under $20 just in case they have to use a key for the bypass. That way you can just pay to have it cut and you can program it yourself before the install.

Great idea! I went ahead and bought one just in case...We are still going to try and find the right module though.

We found the correct bypass module...PKALL Works as advertise without burning a key. Odd thing is, this is the same module they had issues with. Turns out Directed/Viper had a MAJOR update(entire step missing) to the programing instructions that the dealer has to ask for. One would reasonably think Directed could proactively send that update out to all dealers who purchased a PKALL bypass module in the past

Anyway...we are good to go and thought I would share the solution

I really wish I could tell you, but I did not look very closely at it...they contacted Directed tech support and the missing step(or new instructions rather) were emailed to them. Literally the directions in the box had a big blank area where the new one had new instructions. Sorry....

You could try calling my LSS (Allstar Auto sound in Long Beach, CA) I think Kieth did the install and they are SUPER helpful over there... They should remember the F-150 PKALL programming debacle; it was not that long ago.

Good luck!

I paid 250 for the alarm, 75 for the PK-ALL module and 200 for install. I have seen some ghetto shops pry the chips out of the keys or just tape the keys under the dash. You have no PATS protection when they do that.

I really don't know, but what should the install shop be doing w/this key for a proper installation?

IIRC, mine cost about $550-600 fully installed with remote start, and without requiring an additional key. Of all places, Best Buy installed it (but its under warranty {which I used once to reprogram the dome lights} and its never broken down or failed me).

Why not use the Ford PATS Interface instead of leaving a pats key in there? 8L3Z-19G365-BA is the part number ($30-$40) and i have had many installed when we use Viper 5901s and 5701s. You can get them from your Dealer or online...

Also, are you all having your installers wire the memory seats to your Vipers? We always wire them to the Remote Start Systems be it a Ford 6 Button or DEI.

I have seen a box they put it in, I guess it is a magnetized box or such that blocks the signal from the chip except when starting.
