Question Regular Cab size question

My brother in-law in considering a new F-150 to tow his boat to the lake. He is interested in a regular cab model. The super cab and super crew are too big for what he needs. He is concerned about how much room there is in reg cab though. The ability to store things securlty (not in the bed) is a majort want.
Question: Can anyone comment on things that will fit behind the seat of a regular cab? Is there to little room, just enough etc....

Thanks for your time

The girlfriends 06 and her 2010 reg cab seem to have the same about of room just the 2010 doesn't have the rear opening doors anymore. But there is lots of room behind the seat with no issues.

The floor forms a bit of a 'shelf' behind the seat which is 12" wide. There are various after market storage units to fit there.

Good luck finding one, I think 95% of the trucks Ford makes are either SuperCab or SuperCrew. The resale would also be something to think about.

Naa, they're easy to find in XL and STX, rare in XLT and non-existent above that I believe.

In terms of room behind the seat, Ford's regular cab trucks are as close as you can come to purchasing an extended cab truck without actually purchasing an extended cab truck.....

I can confirm from experience that there is about a foot behind the seats...lots of room. As far as the resale value I don't think you'd have any trouble selling any F-150 and don't forget the reg. cab costs less to begin with.

A simple assesment. My daughter once told my wife that we can all go in daddy's truck, she'll sit in the back seat. There's almost as much room back there as my old extended cab Ranger.

I have an '09 regular cab. Since I'm a big guy I have the seat all the way back, but there is still plenty of room for a toolbox on one side, and a dufflebag on the other. Pushed all the way back, there is about 10" on the bottom, and it goes up in a triangle shape from there. I have enough room, that I am able to fit a 10" subwoofer box behind the armrest. If you don't have the seat all the way back, and not reclined, it's quite a bit of space.

Best thing to do is head over to a dealer and check it out for yourself.

I have a 2009 XL regular cab. It has plenty of room behind the seats - way more than any other truck ive had. I threw a blanket down behind the passenger seat, and my actually loves to sit back there, and he's about 45 pounds.

He may just want to get a supercab. If he's that concerned about storing things, finding out a regular cab isnt enough after you buy it is a little too late. How much stuff is he looking to put in there anyway?

Thanks for all of the responses. Stuff he would most likely store back there would be tool box and maybe the snap on covers from the boat (when on the lake) maybe a laptop from time to time. Sounds like the size would be fine for that. I will pass all of the info on to him.
One thing, the reg cab 4x2 only comes with a 4.6L 2v. towing is listed at 5400lb. The boat is about 3000lbs so shouldn't be too bad but I wonder how it will handle. Next step up to a 4.6L 3v has to be a super cab or 4x4 reg cab. Both add about 5k to price. Also, reg cabs do seem rare to find. STX would best. Only found an XL near us so far.
We will check it all out and see how it goes.
Thanks again!

I'm 6'2" My 09 reg cab (8 foot box) is the only vehicle I've driven that If I put the seat all the way back, it is too far.

There is about 1 foot behind the seat, plenty for a tool box and all the stuff I carry.

My 09 is is a Royal Red XL with the 4.6l 3v, they had a green XL reg cab with the 5.4, but I don't like greeen

I really wanted the 8 foot box, and all I could find at the time was reg cabs, the dodge, chevy and GMC don't have any real room behind the seat in reg cab. (generally an XL nad XLT is available in supercab 8foot box, but I've never seen one in stock in the 09+ body style.
