Tailgait rust question

I had a ranger that the bottom lip of the tailgate rusted real bad. Do any of the new f150's have this problem

reason i'm asking is im getting it line-x next week, and am wondering if i should have him hit that lip while he's at it. does anyone do that? does it still close fine ?

Can't say I have ever had that problem on any F150 I have owned. That even includes one that was 8 years old with 160k on it. I am sure it can happen, especially if the drains get plugged, but I haven' ever had it.

The first place my 97 F 350 rusted was along the inner lip along the weld.
I had my bed sprayed on the new truck but they did not cover that area. I pulled the gate off and sprayed on some 3M undercoating all along the underside of the gate. The gate is so easy to take off there is no reason to not do this. Clean it, mask it off, and spray it on.
