09+ Center Console Gun Mount

I made this thread regarding a mount in the 04-08 trucks. Well for my dads birthday I got him the same system for his truck. He has an 09 platinum with the flow through console and the mount works the same. The only down side is that you have to remove the little tray thing. He just layed the tray in the bottom and everything works fine.

I used the blackhawk serpa holsters and the blackhawk quick dissconnect kits designed for chest/leg holsters. Holds everything very nicely and makes it detachable. 3 self tapping screws hold it to the console. Just make sure you do a few test locking in and unlocking the holster from the dissconnect. You have to have it off to the right of the console a bit depending on the size of your gun. The front of the console is angled at the top, just mount the quick dissonect as far up as possible on the front and it works great.

His xdM mounted:

Very nice ingenuity, but with all do respect, isn't the point of having a firearm in your vehicle for protection? In a bad situation, you definitely want to have very fast access to your firearm. Opening the console, and reaching in is not very fast, and is quite obvious. I have my revolver in my door. It's very easy/quick access, it's not obvious, and it can't be seen. This is just personal preference on my part, I have a belief that if I carry a firearm, I want to be able to use it as fast as I can.

Regardless of it all, nice mod!

Yes, but in texas the gun must remain concealed. And being right handed shooting with the left is awkward IMO. This is a very fast draw opening the console and pulling is just as fast if not faster than bending down grabbing the gun and changing hands. I was skeptical until I actually tried it. It is suprisingly comfortable and natural IMO.

Hey, if it works for you, that is all that matters. I wasn't aware of your state laws, which now it makes more sense to want it in the console.

Yeah Texas wants it concealed when in the vehicle. Otherwise I would have got one of the mounts that mount under the steering wheel. Those are cool!

Living in the state of Pennsylvania has it's advantages. We can carry any way we want, provided we have a LTCF (licence to carry firearms). Open, concealed, laying on the seat, loaded...whatever. Personally, I carry mine on my person so as not to have it flying around the cab in the event of a collision, or if I need to get to it quickly.

My console is of the armrest variety, so there is not enough room for the serpa, but when I have to leave it in the truck, (during work) I put it in a lock box mounted to the floor.

Nice idea for those with the correct console, though. It is a shame that there are not uniform laws in ALL states concerning the carry of firearms.

In Louisiana, it's your choice as to where you put your firearm in your vehicle, concealed or not. Only thing we need to be licensed for is concealed carry on our persons. Got a link to one of these steering wheels mounts? Sounds interesting.

Wet Okole can incorporate a gun tote in their seat covers. I think I'll get that option when I order my seat covers.

Yea, but the reason that he made the mount is because it's uncomfortable to sit in the truck with it on a side holster. At least that's what I remember him saying in the thread in the 04-08 section.

Nice mod! I may have to do this in my 09 Platinum!

I agree, I'm trying to get to Texas ASAP. Why did they want to keep your speed loaders? How did you end up getting out of that situation, if you don't mind me asking?
