What to pay for a used 2010 platinum

While looking for a new F-150 and I came across two used 2010 Platinums. I am having trouble figuring out what to pay for them. KBB and NADA do not have the 2010 Platinum listed. They are both 4x4, have the NAV system and are similarly equipped (except as I explain below).

The first one has about 7,500 miles on it. It was not yet priced because they just got it in (it was in the back). I was told the price was $43,900 but they agreed to sale it for $38,500.

The second one I found was at a dealership that was closed. It has about 14,000 miles on it. This one had a price on the window of $38,500. It also has bedliner, rollback bedcover, and the side steps, but no tailgate step.

The second one has double the miles but still plenty of factory warranty. The starting price of the second one is the same as what I ‘negotiated’ on the first. However, I was not ready to buy and did not try negotiating very hard. I just asked for numbers.

The new ones have an MSRP around $50,000 with an invoice about $45,000. I think there is $3500 in rebates (and another $1k is you finance with ford). Assuming they would sale at invoice, I could get a new one for about $40,500-41,500.

How hard is it to get an invoice deal these days?

Has anyone here bought a used 2010 platinum (or other style)? What would be a great price on the used platinum?

For that minor price difference, I say buy the new one. Invoice should be pretty easy to do. Just walk in, say "I'll buy that truck at invoice today" and my guess is they'll sell it to you.

Also, if you plan to finance, you usually get a slightly lower rate on new vehicles, which may make up some of the difference in price as well.

Get the new one. Invoice deals are the norm around here. It is sad. My first 2010 sold used for what I paid for it new.

Thanks for the quick responses.

At the numbers I mentioned, I also think it would be best to get the new one. However, the second one has an ASKING price of $38,500. I have not tried to negotiate. If I could get it for around $33,000, it may be worth it. However, I do not know if that number is realistic. And, I would hate to get it, and then hear that many people are getting the same for $28k.

If I get a new one, I will probably get a lariat instead of platinum. I was only giving the new platinum numbers for comparison.

I was trying to get some guide as to the value of the used 2010 Platinum.

I doubt you will get 5500 off the asking price on the used one. MAYBE 3k if you are a shrewd negotiator, but I would say probably closer to 2k off on the second one.

There's not a lot to give on used prices. Like above poster said you would be lucky to get $2-3k of what they are asking. From what I have seen platinums seem to hold there prices very well so look at this way. If you buy a new one when you come to sell it you shouldn't lose to much. I have been on some forums where people gave sold them for exactly what they paid a year after they bought them! Crazy but true.

Do you have to have a Platinum? I paid just under $31K for my brand new loaded Lariat (MSRP $41K). It has everything, except the electronics package. Just for a reference point.

Oops, mine isn't 4X4 though.
