I recently bought a 2010 Lariat and I cannot figure out why my muscles in my upper back are hurting so bad. If I drive for more than 20 minutes in my truck it starts hurting. The only thing I can think of is that my seat is a little too form fitting or a little too soft. Does this make sense to anybody? My wife has a 2007 Ford Escape and the seats are not as soft and the back of the seat is not as curved and yet I don't feel the same tension on my back.

It feels a little better when I lean forward and take pressure off the top part of my back.
Anyone else ever have this problem? Any solutions?

Try putting the seat in a more upright position.

 

My old power seat would move the bottom up and down separate from the back. I don't think the 2010 does. Mine isn't the most comfortable.

 

I've kind of noticed the same thing. I think it may be the forward angle of the headrest. It feels to me like the headrest forces my head forward and does not allow for support of my entire back.

 

ABSOLUTELY 100% the headrest. You're most likely a person who stands up straight, and doesn't stick your head forward like a chicken. The headrest is forcing your head forward which causes unholy tension and discomfort between your shoulder blades.

Ford screwed the pooch on these headrests.

 

I drive an Explorer at work. They are worse than the F-150's. We resorted to turning the headrest around in the Explorer. It's not as safe but it is much more comfortable.

 

try adjusting the lower lumbar support all the way out. i do this on mine which puts my body into a more straight line position in the seat. i have yet to experience any upper back pain in mine and i have the 10 way power seats in my fx4. you REALLY have to play with the adjustments. i was screwing with mine for about 2 weeks after i bought mine until i finally found a comfortable position with the seat and steering wheel adjustments.
