2010 trailer wiring problem

Ive got a 2010 Fx4 screw and just put new lights on my jetski trailer. When i went to test it out everything but the running lights worked. I ohm'd the plug on the truck and its not getting voltage for the running lamps only...brake and turn signals work fine, its just the brown wire. I've never towed my ski at night or anything for that matter so i dont know if it was defective then too. Its going to the dealer to thursday to get fixed....anyone had a problem like this with their new truck?

Did you check the fuses? The trailer plug has individual fuses. Just a thought.

The plug itself does? and only for the running lights?

check your manual I am pretty sure there are separate fuses for the trailer.

You should have got a bag with a extra harness adaptor and a extra fuse. You need to install that fuse for it to work correctly. I had same issue with my trailer but someone on here helped me out.

We have yet to see one defective towing harness on a new Ford. Lots of trailer wiring issues...

I thought that was for the trailer brake system.

Im going to check fuse #31 when i get home see if thats the culprit. Manual recommends diconnecting the batter when messing with those fuses under the hood, which will make me have to do the idle reset stuff (as per manual). Anybody see a problem just pulling it out to look at it with the truck off...its only a 15 or 20amp fuse anyway.

And im sure its not the wiring in the trailer itself, i tested it on another set of lights same problem, not to mention the plug tester showing "brown" which is the running lights not working. And i ohm'd each plug, only one not getting power was brown.

checked the fuse today, and guess what it was blown. Guess I'l know next time the trailer harnes is connected to multiple different fuses.

Thanks 2010f150. Know i gotta go find some mini fuses, they look smaller than my wife's fuses in her Kia that are mini's.

I just towed with my 2010 S Cru, and it worked right out of the gate. Just plugged in the trailer plug and all the lights worked perfectly.
Make sure you are not grounding your park lights on your trailer, or you will blow that fuse again. My guess is that where the problem lies.

glad it was just the fuse.

I keep a bunch of different amp rated mini's along with some cartage fuses in the truck just because you never know.

My first thought was fuse, but then my second was nah, brakes and turn signals work fine...so thanks again.

and yea i do the same with my vehicles, just need to pick up some fuses for this new one...

Have you guys seen these mini fuses? They are different from any else ive seen. Its the same size as normal mini fuses but the prongs that u push down into the port are short, they are flush with bottom of the fuse itself. I had extra mini fuses from my wife's car and it fit just stuck up and out because the prongs are longer..Going to go to advance or somewhere see if i see these kind anywhere

All the tow wiring is fused separate from the trucks signal lights. Good engineering.
