how do i stop my iPhone from always auto-playing?

total n00b, lurker until now...

I have a 2010 Lariat with the navigation system. I hook up my iPhone via bluetooth. I went to the control panel and turned off auto play yet, every time I get in the truck and the phone connects, it starts playing (behind the scenes even if I have it on Siruis or the Radio.

Any one else have the same problem? How do I keep this from happening?

Change the sync input to Line In. Just push your sync voice command button and say "line in" and that should stop it from auto playing through bluetooth. Worked for me.

I'll test it tomorrow but I think I would have to do this every time I got in the truck...

i have got the exact same issue with my blackberry. it only happens if i turn off the truck while i am listening to USB device and then unhook that device while the truck is off. Next time and everytime after that the blackberry starts playing its ring tones. not on the radio, but on the phone itself. press line in and i dont get that issue again until i repeat the steps above. i am sure there is some way to prevent it, i just havent had the time to play with it.

No, once it's in Line In it will stay there until you change it. If you connect your iPhone by USB, just change the input back to Line In when you're done and it will stay like that even after turning the truck off and on. I rarely listen to music through my iPhone so I almost always leave the input to Line In and it never auto plays.

Maybe try downloading IOS4. I received my iphone 4 yesterday and no longer have this problem. My 3G would do this anytime i got in my truck and got kind of annoying.

My droid was doing that also. I think it was when I had the phone plugged in and listening to music on the phone. It doesn't do it anymore, but I also haven't had the phone plugged in either.

IOS4 didn't fix the issue. Annoying. I can just deal with it but very annoying. Especially since there is a setting to turn off the feature from SYNC.

I had the same problem. I went through and turned off "Auto Play" in every input source (line in, bluetooth audio, and USB). It seems to not be forcing the phone to play music now.

On another note, the first few weeks I had the truck, I would plug in my iPhone into the USB, set it to play through SYNC USB, and the truck would try to still try to play through bluetooth audio. I thought I would lose my mind until I found the "auto play" option.

As far as iOS4 goes, the one thing I noticed is that when you set the ringer on the truck to 'phone ringer', it will actually play your iPhone ring tone through the speakers. When I was on 3.1.3, the phone would ring through its own speakers and the truck would use one of the default ringers. I definitely like having the ring tone play through the truck speakers.
