Step Tailgates for '09s
It was unfortunate that when I went looking for my 2009 XLT I had to sacrifice the step tailgate. It would be a nice item for someone who's not as young as he use to be.
Back in '83 I bought a Bronco with inside spare carrier. I wanted the external one and it was a long-term heartache. The dealer did the installation and it was a poor piece of work. Inadequate mounting, amateur painting, and I bought the parts at cost. Of course getting them to show the invoice was tricky.
Anyway - thought I'd get the tailgate afterward - Oh no! They want to part it out piece-by-piece. That takes it from the $300 range to over $800.
Anyone know of any "kits"? The only other option appears to be junkyard picking.
I'd hoped Ford would have learned since the 80's to offer their options after initial sale as units, guess not!
