Off topic a bit, but...

Question:

Could someone explain what is the difference between electric steering and what we have now (2009)?

Well most power-steering pumps are driven off of a drive belt on the engine. I would assume that an electric power steering pump is all electric and thus does not have a direct link to the engine to rob horsepower. That being said, it just makes the alternator work harder to power the steering pump, so you lose some of the horsepower you gained.

it helps with peak hp numbers ... I have electric steering in the fusion and like it... + no fluid to check all the time.

Electric power steering doesn't use fluid? How does it work?

The problem with electric steering is it gives you awful feedback. I would never buy a performance car with it as I like to feel everything the roads telling me but on a truck I don't think it will bother me at all.

Funny the guys with new 'Stangs don't agree. Most really like it. The thing is the feel can be adjusted.

From what I've read it's going to be near the end of August before we know what we can order and what the price will be and then November before the first ones start showing up at the dealers.

I have heard that Job1 won't be until Dec.1 at KCAP for some odd reason this year. If that is the case you won't see any on dealer lots until sometime after the first of the year. DPT might be a little different but not by much.

Production starts Nov 23. (subject to change) I doubt we'll see one before Jan 1 even if no line issues. Whens the last time a MY first hit the lot in that actual MY! Crap the all-new 1997 hit in Jan 96! I'm suprised Ford didn't switch to MY 2011 mid calender year and then call the 2011 a 2012.

Order bank opens Aug 16.

5.0 Coyote is coming for 2011. Will be slightly different for F150 than the Mustang version. Essex Engine Plant is setting up a second line for the F150 version. 4.6L and 5.4L are deep sixed after 2010.

I belive this is still speculation, not confirmed... If I am wrong, let me know where I can see the confirmation. (press release, etc)

- Fusion type key to go with the remote start

- heated wheel

- new colors for other F-150's

- painted grilles, and Harley head lights and tails on more models, maybe in a luxury package

- improved mpg on all engines

- hill descent control on FX4 (probably saving that for the all new model)

Edit: - also electric steering (per pickuptrucks.com and it is already in the 2011 Mustang - will also improve mpg)
My SD has remote start from factory. What's a fusion key?

quite frankly, this refresh for the 2011 model year is loaded with options that should have been available in 2009(with the exception of the powertrains). it now sticks us with a much improved model over the 2009 and 10 and those of us who would like to trade up and get the latest and greatest will be paying through the nose to get rid of our now already out of date trucks..i dont know just my two cents..anyone else think this?
