2011 F250 6.2L = 14mpg!!!
I'm curious, if Chevy offers the 6.2L in it's 1500s, ?, and Dodge offers the 5.7L, in it's 1500s, then why do all of you choose the F150's relatively underpowered 5.4L? Durability? Personally, I would want the HP. Just curious, no offense intended. Personally, I grew-up in an Olds dealership and was thus, anti-Ford. But, I now prefer Ford. Mind you, I didn't even bother to test-drive or even browse Dodge or Chevy.
They ain't bad prices. I looked at some in the dealership and fully loaded models ain't much more than a fully loaded f150. Way too big of a truck for what I tow 7k Lbs. Ain't seen one on the road around this area yet but I'm sure it won't be long. Seems f150's have taken a chunk of the f250 market with the increased capacities.
I was just starting to feel like I was perhaps beginning to see the new 2008 SD models on a semi-regular basis, and then they went and did the 2011 SD. I've seen one so far. I think it shows how much the overall truck market has shrunk. In the past it would take like 6-8 months to get used to seeing a newer design all over the place. And I'm only just now feeling like the '08-style SD is becoming commonplace. I'm also feeling like the '09-style 150 is starting to become commonplace, at least for models like XLT/FX4/Lariat.
I suppose this feeling will become the norm, as there is no sign of the ecomony creating jobs for the forseeable future and the bmarket for big vehicles remaining mostly just to those who need them nowadays, not those who just want them, like myself. Throw in the 3-year cycle FMC is pursuing now and it increases that perception even more.
As an aside, those big chrome grille's seem even bigger on those SD's when you walk by them on the dealer lots.
Very cool. Unfortunately, the rest of the vehicle appears virtually identical to the past several iterations of the SD. It's as if they change the front clip, and then leave the rest the same boring flat panel design it's been forever. They don't even try to add any new crease lines, tailights, anything. I don't get it. Maybe the SD just doesn't sell/cater to the demographic that cares about styling, like the 150 demographic does.

How many miles do you have on it? Has the MPG gotten better over time? I've got almost 2,000 miles on mine & I'm getting about 15.7 & I drive conservatively. Same set up as you...Screw 4x4 5.4L 3.55's.
I'm around that mixed driving- mid 15's. I've gotten up to mid to upper 17s with mostly hiway with 3500 mi on it. Screw 4x4 5.4 with 3.55s. Hopefully it keeps climbing but thats already 3 mpg better (mixed) than I got with my old 6.0L diesel
Exactly why i asked how much he paid. Cause a difference even $2,500 between his f250 with the 6.2 and mine with the apparent tiny 4.6 3v to me is a total waste of money for me to spend that kind of extra money so i can smoke a pos dodge ram at a traffic light.
My other question TO THE OP is why are you posting in the 2009-2011 f-150 forum about your 2011 f250?? Especially when your bashing the very vehicle this forum is about. F150 ONLINE.
