Can we still factory order a 2010?

Does anyone know if Ford is still taking factory orders for the 2010's? If so any idea of the cut off date?

8/27/2010 is the order cutoff date for 2010
8/30/2010 is the first order date for 2011 model F-150's
11/22/2010 is the job #1 date for the 2011 model F-150

How long does it take to get a truck after it is ordered? Can you get a good deal on them if you special order them? Or are you better off finding something on the lot and telling the dealer what you are going to pay?

You will always get a better deal on a truck that's already in stock. The ONLY reason to special order is to get exactly what you want.

If you want to order one, they know you want it... therefore worse deal.

However. From what I've read, it costs them more to keep a machine on the lot (insurance). Factory ordered machines don't have this overhead (at least not to the same extent).

A major expense for dealers is paying interest on carrying inventory. That is part of what eats at the holdback. If you order one they get all of the holdback without any of the carrying costs. On the other hand you're not buying one off of the lot that they are paying on.

Most dealers also have a "floor plan" loan on their stock. Depending on the dealer this interest rate can be a significant expense.

Some will try to get you "cause you really want it", others won't. Same as everything else.

then again there really isnt anything they can do to you if you order with X plan or something similar. those are factory set prices and the dealer cant screw with that

What my dealer did first was sit me down and we built the "ideal" truck that I wanted to the tee. Then we figure out the price of all options etc and trade in value. We then haggle that price a little back and forth. Once a price is settled, they start searching for the truck in a huge database. Odds of finding the exact truck you want depends on what you want I guess. They only found 2 that were even close to what I wanted... but not close enough (for me). One had alot of extra fluff, chrome pkg + tailgate/bed steps which just add $ (extra options are added to the original price of course) and the other wasn't dressed in the color I wanted. If your stubborn in what you want, and able to wait a while, you can factory order.

I like their method, was quick and relatively painless (except the wallet of course). Factory order doesn't cost any more, just takes a while.
