Black out tail light but not lens?

Hey guys,

One thing I'd like to mod on my truck is the tail lights. Since the FX4 is essentially blacked out, I don't really like the shiny surround accents in the tail light assembly. I don't want to tint the actual lenses themselves, but would like to just black out the surround. Is this possible? Has anyone done this?

Most tail light mods I've seen involve smoking out the whole thing.

Here's a quick photoshop job I did to show what it would look like...

Awesome! Yes, that's exactly it.

I'm usually good with searching, but not this time apparently.

Thanks for the link too!

Just do a search for Raptor or Harley tails, they are a Ford factory part.

That is my truck in the third post.

I painted the tail because I didn't want to open them up and chance breaking the lens. The paint matched perfectly.

Cheaper then buying new tails too.

I'm surprised that Rustoleum matched so well! Duplicolor makes factory matched paint in aerosol cans that works good too. I used it on my mirror caps and the Oxford White was a dead-on match.

So we meet again Mr. SeaDragon.

This is one of the first mods that I would like to do when I get my new F150. I also want to do it to the headlights.
