? For you Lariat w/cooled seats owners

I still haven't pulled the trigger (damn stock market is being stingy) but I had settled on the Lariat only because I think the cooled seats would be a God send here in AZ. I really want a low end FX4. Reading up on the cooled seats, it sounds like they aren't tied into the A/C system. If that's true I'd imagine I could buy an FX4 with black interior and buy the black cooled seats from the dealer, bolt and plug them in. Can any of you verify if this is the case? The base FX4 is $4k cheaper. I would imaging I could buy the two front seats and do the head unit upgrade I wanted for that.

The cooled seats are not tied into the AC but I don't anticipate they'll be plug and play. When you turn on the cooled seat it turns on a unit built into the seat (Fan motor built into each seat) but it's controlled by PCM I'm sure and there are switches in the dashboard. So not only would you have to buy the seats, buy the electronics under the seat and buy the switches, but you'd also need to have the PCM flashed and HOPE that it works. Don't know if that's a smart gamble or not. If you try it though let us know how it works out!

Last I checked, the FX4 how I woudl build it (with most options) was less than $500 than the closest Lariat. Supercrew FX4 Lux package (black leather) = $41,590. Lariat with 3.55LS = $40,950. Do you want cooled cloth seats?

I'd completely take the seats out and swap them. FX4 is $39k. I'd take out the cloth and put in the leather lariat seats bought from the dealer. The cheapest Lariat I could find with the cooled seats is $43k. Hence the $4k difference.

Too much to hope for it would be easy I guess. Damn!

The cooled seats are separate from the AC. They work much better and much faster in my Lariat than the AC does. They are AWESOME in the Texas heat, so I know you would like them in Arizona.

Yeah I'm going to get them. Just wish I could get them in an FX4.

The cooled seats are amazing to have in Florida. Just curious, is the only reason you prefer a FX4 over a Lariat is the price?

Price and I'm paying for less stuff I'm going to replace anyway. It will work out either way. Just trying to maximize my cash.

Well the Lariat is actually 43990 so almost $5k more. The sound system, step bar, whole grille instead of just the insert and 20" wheels off the top of my head. The FX4 is 39095. The FX4 has 2 built in discounts on it so maybe there's more wiggle room in the Lariat's price. The Lariat has some nice add ons like the garrage door opener so it's not all bad. Just could do a lot with that extra $5k. Like I said though, there should be more spread from sticker to invoice on the Lariat so probably a lot more room to negotiate.

My buddy is selling his Dodge. We both had Dodges the last two trucks. We are going to hit the internet salesman together to see if he'll deal more since he'll have two sales at once.

I was going my the theoretical build your own for comparable equipment, not what one dealer had on his lot as equipped. You can add $8k of options to some models, for example. You (or any competent salesperson) should be able to find a Lariat with fewer options for closer to $40k MSRP within a couple hundred miles to dealer trade.

I don't think it'll work. Just buy the Platinum!!

Those cooled seats are nice but they are quiet loud on the highest setting. I say it sounds like the ocean because it will get loud then get quiet almost like a wave action
