2010 - Third Brake Light Leak TSB # ??

Found that my third break light was leaking this morning. I did a search of the forum but only found a TSB # for the SAT antenna leak and loose references to the third brake light TSB.

Anyone have this info handy? I just want to have it in my pocket when I meet with the dealer this afternoon.

That's brutal. You'd think that after 7 years they'd have this issue fixed. They can spend millions and millions designing these trucks and they can't fix a leaky brake light.

i had mine done it was bad.. never noticed it then one day right after a storm i was driving & the water was just dripping through the head liner onto the floor.. had the head liner & brake light replaced & the brake light got a new gasket they came up with.... milk you should notice something, your head liner will stain, or leak in my case or while its raining or after go in the back & just run your hand across the liner to see if it is wet at all.. if so dont waste time have them fix it

Mine started leaking in December. It was raining every day and I was not going to wait around to get in to see the dealer as my back seat was getting wet so I read some posts about this on here and removed the third brake light lens and put clear silicone on the gasket area and bolted it back up and the problem was fixed. The dealer told me that it was a pretty common problem.

Yes, I agree that Ford should have fixed the problem by now.

It's very noticeable Milkman. One day it was fine the next my rear seat was wet and the headliner was dripping.

One thing I noticed was that when I would shut the door an enormous amount of pressure was trying to escape through the light. Mine was actually making a hissing noise when I shut my door. After repeated closures the gasket probably just gives up.

Still no luck on the TSB, but the dealer seems to be taking care of everything at this point.

Sorry, I couldn't find that one, but here is a list of several other TSB's in case you need them: http://www.ford-trucks.com/tsb/fullt...y=2009&m=F-150

Wow this happened to my truck too. I have had more junk like this with my F150 than every other new car I have ever had. Im pretty dissapointed in the quality to be honest.

1 - Leaking brake light
2 - Seat covers coming off (driver first and passenger last week)
3 - Squeeky rear springs
4 - Paint coming off rear emblem
5 - Passenger seat shimmies so bad and has started to rattle

Very frustrating for an 8 month old truck.

Quick Update- I never found the TSB but the dealer replaced the entire light assembly a couple weeks ago and replaced the headliner this week without a problem. I popped the new light and checked it out, there is a larger gasket on this unit. I set it in some clear silicone when I put it back on just to be safe though.

When i bought my 05 I took the light out the first day i had it even though it wasn't leaking, and used clear silicone all around it.

I should be picking my 2010 up tomorrow and i will do the same with that one.

Ford should have fixed it by now I definitely agree, but for a 10min silicone permanent fix I think more people should do it themselves before it even leaks just so they dont have to worry.

If it makes you feel any better my bosses 09 chevy 1500 z71 leaks through the rear window seals and they cant fix it.

Regarding #5. Did the dealer have a fix for this? I have the same issue and the dealer said it was normal.

No, they said Ford told them it was normal too. I explained to the service manager that my dads 01 F150 doesn't do that and neither does my friends 2010 Tundra.

I am going to bring it up every time I am at the dealer until it is fixed. I am not sure if it is the dealer or if Ford really did tell them it was "normal"

But I will say that Fords lack of action on these issues cost them at least one sale, my father was going to trade his 01 Lariat in for a 2010 Lariat and he has decided to keep his old one.

I had the same problem with mine, and it was also dripping up front on the passenger side. My seat covers are coming off too. I don't know what the deal is, but a brand new truck should not be leaking, and the seat covers should should stay on more than a couple weeks at least.
