2009 SCab Line-X paid around $475 tax out the door. I've had it for 1 year and it's been great, no problems at all.

I don't need a heavy duty liner, just something to make it look better than the scratched up bed looks now.

I had Herculiner in my last F150. After a year or so in the sun it looked like crap. If your bed is scratched up now, it will be scratched up with the Herculiner. It would scratch and chunk off (especially in the high spots) very easily. It would get soft in the hot sun. After 8 years of owning the truck, I had probably just as much in time and $$$'s maintaining the Herculiner than I would have spent doing it right the first time and getting Line-X -- which is one of the first things I did when I got my 2010. I recommend getting something better than some scotch brite pads to scuff it up. I would use a sander or a disc attachment on a drill. I would also order some more of the Herculiner, you'll want to double coat it the first time and every so often pour some through a strainer to remove the rubber chunks and apply a top coat.

I will chime in and recommend LineX as well. Big differences between LineX and the other large manuf (Rhino) is how they are applied. Rhino is cold sprayed while LineX is hot sprayed. Hot spraying will allow for a thinner coat that will penetrate more cracks. Not sure about Rhino, but LineX has pretty much an unconditional lifetime nationwide guarantee. If you damage it, they will fix it for free anywhere in the country. Also, LineX has ballistic properties that Rhino does not. Doing a little bit of research will prove that LineX has a contract with the military for spraying the SAPI plates the guys wear in their vests for added small arms protection. For me, I like the added ballistic protection in the bed of my truck (not from small arms, but dings and stuff).

I just traded by 2004 Scab on a 2010 Platinum Screw..had a Speedliner on the 04 and plan on getting another one for the 10. After 6 years it still looked like new. IMO it had much more tack/stick than the Line-X or Rhino's I have seen/felt.

I went with the 3M Dynapro off ebay for 50 dollars. Stuff is amazing, easy to apply and the bed liner finish looks really nice. Hasn't peeled or chipped yet and it came in spray cans so I didn't have to buy any other equipment. Good deal.

"Canadian Prices", I hear ya. Figured it was a fraction of the total investment though. Turned out great, no complaints.

A quick question. The truck I have now has a Rhino liner. It is thick and tacky which I like but after about 9 months the color (black) took on a light chalky color. Looks almost like it was oxidizing. Do all sprayed in liners do this? In my area you see a lot more Rhino's than anything else and everyone that I ever looked at looked just like mine.

Thanks

You will be the third person I know this has happened to with the Rhino liner.

@chipper14,

The bedliner looks great! My truck is getting done today with a Line-X liner. I was wondering, did you get the extra coating to protect it from UV rays? I declined since I am putting on a tonneau cover.

Thanks for the compliment. Looks even better than the picture and adds alot to the truck. You will really like it, I do.

But to answer your question, I wasnt asked if I wanted an extra coating. But I did get the premium to keep it from fading over time so I think that already has something in the mix or they just put it on anyways? Sorry I can't give you a better answer than that.

If you got the premium then yes you got the UV protect. added.
I just went through it.
My tailgate too was done.
I also found out they remove the box when they did mine. They say they did it to make sure all areas were done evenly(even under the rails) I am very happy with the results.
