1st Mod... bedliner... and then some!

I'm not a big fan of chrome, which is one of the reasons I bought an XL truck. I didn't know what I would do with the gray bumpers, but I knew they had to go. I talked with a buddy of mine who owns an off-road shop and he suggested coating them with spray-in bedliner material. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. From a normal distance they seem to match the upper fascia and grill pretty well. Up close they shine more than the rest, I think they will dull some over time though.

I'm going towards a white/black look, this is the first step.

Huh, never thought of that. That would also help protect/cover up the inevitable parking lot scuffs. Nice job...

Looks really good. I think it will be hard for the average guy to tell it's not factory.

Hopefully getting mine done this summer, front and rear. Thinking about doing that little part right above the front bumper also. Mine already has some chips in it.

Thanks for the compliments.

I didn't do anything, that is the stock XL fascia. I think the XL is the only trim level that doesn't have a PTM fascia.

The abuse that the front end takes was my main concern with doing a PTM swap (and the cost). The guy that did mine said that they can spray plastic, but they won't warranty it. On metal it has a lifetime warranty.

Thanks! I back into most parking spots and associated shrubbery, so PTM would probably not have faired well for me.

Thumbs up

I recall a bunch of guys putting that Hurculiner stuff on the undersides of their '04's back in the day, to help prevent rust and whatnot in the wheel wells and underneath the truck, etc. Always looked good.

There's a guy who parks in the garage I do at work sometimes, who has a chevy truck, and for whatever reason he has the bottom 1/3 of his pickup all done up with that stuff. Maybe he had lots of damage or something because IMO it's way too high up on the truck all around, but he did a very good job of it perfectly level and all, came out just like yours in terms of how it looks.

Thanks!

Was your valance smooth/painted or textured like mine? I think part of the shop's concern about mine was the textured aspect.
